The developers at Pearl Abyss shared that the continent of Pywel is absolutely massive; it is at least twice the size of the playable area in Skyrim and physically larger than the map in Red Dead Redemption 2. Estimates suggest the map covers roughly 400 km Square, which would take approximately two hours to cross on horseback or six hours on foot.

Early hands-on Crimson Desert reviews from Gamescom and other events have been very positive. Some players did mention that the camera can feel a little shaky during big boss fights, but it didn’t take away much from the experience.

What’s the Story About?

The game follows a mercenary named Kliff, who leads a group called the Greymanes, like Crimson Desert CO OP. The story begins after a brutal nighttime ambush by a rival group known as the Black Bears, which leaves Kliff's team scattered and broken. From there, the journey becomes personal.

You travel across the continent to find the surviving Greymanes, slowly bringing the group back together. Along the way, you form new alliances, recruit fresh faces, and rebuild your strength as a mercenary leader.

Revenge also plays a big role, as Kliff sets his sights on striking back at the Black Bears, only to discover that a much bigger danger is threatening the world. This isn’t a typical RPG filled with constant big choices. Instead, the story feels personal based on how you play.
