Gamescom 2026 All Announcements Ranked From Most Exiciting to Underwhelming

Gamescom 2026 has finally kicked off in Cologne, and fans have already seen their favourite Geoff Keighley as the main host. From CD Projekt Red to Deep Silver, every big-scale and indie studio showcased its upcoming titles. Bandai Namco also brought some heat with its latest take on the vampire genre, The Blood of Dawnwalker.

Overall, the gaming convention got a great start, and many, including us, already picked our favourites. While major title showcases from the famous studios stole the show, indie ones got their fair share of attention. Therefore, we're about to rank a couple of them based on the responses they received, as we dive into the Gamescom 2026 Recap.

Cologne Literally Turned Into a Playground for Gaming Giants

As we've mentioned already, from CDPR to Capcom, can you even say big-scale studios who weren't there? So, the answer is pretty hard to give, since most studios came up with something, be it a whole new game or a simple DLC.

And finally, it ended with a bang with two much-awaited announcements: Final Fantasy VII Revelation and The Witcher 3's brand-new DLC. Therefore, it's safe to say Cologne has literally turned into a playground for the major gaming studios. Therefore, let's rank some of the major 2026 Gamescom all announcements that got the most attention alongside some underrated names.

Before ranking the titles from the opening night live, do remember that the following rankings are clearly based on the author's opinion. Now, here's an overall ranking for the unforgettable night in Cologne:

10. Tides of Annihilation

After almost a year, Eclipse Glow Games has come out with their newest entry based on a dystopian world. A hack-and-slash genre title where players can harness the power of spectral knights. Basically, gamers have to save a cross-realm city named London.

9. Silent Hill: Townfall

The makers of eFootball and Annapurna Interactive have also presented their upcoming iteration of the Silent Hill series. An island town is the centre of attraction this time, and an American will be there to put things to rest by Zoe Ellis, a mysterious nurse. The popular horror series will be released in a few weeks, on September 24, 2026.

8. Ananta

Ananta, the GTA-like open-world game, but in anime style, is finally here. The interesting thing, however, is that the title from NetEase will be completely free. Players can engage in different activities on the streets of Nova City. This free-to-play title will be avilable in January 15, 2027. Check out our Ananta Global Release Date for more details.

7. Nodus Fall

HoYoverse's Nodusfall surely caught everyone off guard. A company that is mainly known for making colourful gacha games is entering the soulslike world. The graphics, on the other hand, are surely something that no one would expect. The latest entry will be a co-op action title where you must dismantle monsters. Characters in this game will be equipped with Godlike powers on their journey through the storyline.

6. Metro 2039

Deep Silver has showcased its latest entry in the Metro series. After making a VR-based game, the post-apocalyptic genre is back with another unique story, where the chronology is a bit different. While there's a lot to reveal about the storyline, it'll be released in February 2027.

5. Control Resonant

The Control Resonant is another RPG that stole the opening night live showcase. With just a few weeks remaining, the final gameplay trailer showcases a bit of the journey of Dylan Faden.

4. The Blood of Dawnwalker

With just a week remaining, Bandai showcased its final trailer for the vampire-genre title. The main protagonist, Coen, will be on a journey to save his village. The only twist, however, is that he has now turned into a dawnwalker. It'll be a great mixture of different kinds of experiences where you can see modern-day gameplay mechanics in a medieval time setup.

3. Dungeons & Dragons: Warlock

The iconic Dungeons & Dragons series will be back with their latest iteration. Similar to the iconic series, players can utilise a myriad of spells to transport from one place to another. They must learn and master different spells to beat the enemies and progress through the story.

2. Final Fantasy VII Revelation

Capcom has finally come up with the final part of the Final Fantasy VII remake series. The main story is just a continuation of its earlier iteration and follows AVALANCHE as they move forward to Northern Crater. Developers have mentioned Spring 2027 as the official release date as of now.

1. The Witcher 3: Songs of the Past

The Witcher 3: Songs of the Past was the showstopper at the Gamescom Opening Night Live 2026. This, however, is a mere DLC to the existing Witcher game. Interestingly, it'll act as the bridge between the current and upcoming Witcher series title (The Witcher 4). It'll take a deep dive on Geral of Rivia's story. It'll be released in 2027.
