LoL Wild Rift Patch 7.3 Teases Three New Champions to Shake Up the Meta

Following the previous developer deep dive, Riot Games announced three new champions in the Lol Wild Rift Patch 7.3 update. They also revealed that these would be the final champion releases of 2026, with the developers focusing on improving the game models, visuals, and the game's quality going forward.

Similar to the Wild Rift Patch 7.2 Preview, Riot Games has already teased the upcoming Wild Rift Patch 7.3 champions Hwei, Sylas, and Rek'Sai. Let us take a deep dive and check out everything we know about the upcoming Wild Rift new champions.

Introducing Wild Rift Hwei, a Complex Mage

In the original League, Hwei is considered the most complicated mage due to his unusual spell system. Hence, among all Wild Rift Patch 7.3 champions, he will have a high skill ceiling, and players will have to learn to combine his different abilities to create new skills with various effects.

As Wild Rift has a smaller map than the original League, Hwei's multitude of long-range abilities can become a nightmare for enemy champions. As a mid-lane mage, Wild Rift Hwei can have a large collection of damaging, defensive, and crowd control skills that will give players a lot of flexibility. Unfortunately, this will also make him harder to play and master due to the high skill execution threshold during quick team fights.

The Ultimate Thief Arrives in the Form of Wild Rift Sylas

Sylas will be a favorite of players as soon as he arrives. His ultimate allows him to steal and use the ultimate of any champion from the enemy team.
Hence, among all Wild Rift new champions, his presence has the highest threat value, as games are decided by which team can select the meta champions during drafting.

Wild Rift Sylas' ultimate-stealing ability counters this strategy, making the enemy team think twice about giving him access to their game-changing ultimates. Sylas can also be played in both the mid-lane and jungle roles, giving your team more flexibility.

Wild Rift Rek'Sai Comes as the Perfect Ambusher

Similar to Sylas, Rek'Sai can also be played in either the top lane or jungle role. Unlike Hwei and Sylas, she is strong in the early game. Her skills and abilities allow her to ambush enemies, making her a more bruiser/assassin out of all the Wild Rift Patch 7.3 champions.

Hence, Wild Rift Reksai can help her team put pressure on the enemy jungle and lanes via ganks and build up a lead that ultimately snowballs into victory. She will change the early-game meta, making players either ban her or opt for other strong early-game champions to counter her.

When Will the Wild Rift Patch 7.3 Champions Release?

Wild Rift's Patch 7.3 update is expected to drop around September 21 and 22. The developers have already teased the release of Hwei, Sylas, and Rek'Sai in the upcoming patch, but their release order and other lineup details will depend on the official patch notes.
