Marvel Rivals Characters: All Classes & Abilities Explained (August 2025)

If you’re new to the Hero Shooter scene, knowing all the characters in Marvel Rivals will help you get an overview of NetEase’s 6v6 title. The title is now in its Season 3.5, and the shift in the meta seems inevitable. NetEase has already implemented a total of 41 Marvel characters in-game, and now that the developers have the freedom to include their own set of characters, there's no turning back. Whether someone is smashing the hell out of small characters with Hulk or dancing in the backline with Luna Snow's Ultimate, every character in the title brings a unique set of abilities to the table. That said, this article will explore all Marvel Rivals characters and their unique set of abilities that have been released so far.

All Marvel Rivals Characters (August 2025 Update List)

Whether you're an iconic Marvel Hero or villain fan, NetEase brings together the exciting characters in Marvel Rivals, featuring unique abilities straight out of the iconic comic book and cinema. Interestingly, the developers are not done with it yet as they're about to introduce more in this ever-expanding roster. Like most other Hero Shooter titles in the market, the characters can be segregated into three categories: Vanguards, Duelists, and Strategists, with each having a set role to play in the arena. NetEase has given a chance to all Hero Shooter enthusiasts worldwide to step into the footsteps of their favourite Marvel hero or villain by blending classic characters from the original comics lore. Now, let's take a look at all Marvel Rivals characters that have been released so far:

Vanguards (Tanks)

Vanguards are the primary characters that absorb the most damage from the enemy team. They have the highest pool of health among the three different character classes in the Hero Shooter.
These characters usually control the tempo of the game by staying on the frontline. If we take a good look at their abilities, most of them utilise their shields and other mitigation abilities to protect the Duelists and Strategists. That said, here's a list of all Vanguard Marvel Rivals characters:

Bruce Banner/ Hulk

Difficulty: 4 Star

Abilities:

• Hulk Smash (Q): Unleash scored gamma energy, transforming from Hero Hulk into Monster Hulk for a limited time period.
• Indestructible Guard (LShift): Generate gamma shields for Hero Hulk and nearby allies, absorbing and converting damage into energy for Hulk Smash.
• Radioactive Lockdown (E): Hold Space button to perform a charged leap that allows Hero Hulk to Knock Down flying enemies.
• Gamma Burst (Right Click): Emit gamma-ray bursts to inflict damage.

Captain America

Difficulty: 3 Star

Abilities:

• Freedom Charge (Q): Shield held high, carve a path forward, granting both himself and allies along the path continuous Bonus Health and Movement Boosts.
• Leading Dash (LShift): Boost speed and enable Fearless Leap to leap into the air.
• Vibranium Energy Saw (E): Hurl the energy-charged shield at striker enemies in a path.
• Liberty Rush (F): Raise the shield and charge forward.
• Super-Soldier Slam (Left Click): Slam down from the sky onto the targeted area, launching up enemies.
• Living Legend (Right Click): Raise the shield to deflect incoming Projectiles, sending them ricocheting in random directions.

Doctor Strange

Difficulty: 2 Star

Abilities:

• Eye of Agamoto (Q): Separate nearby enemies' souls from their bodies. Damage dealt to these souls is transferred to their physical bodies after some time.
• Cloak of Levitation (LShift): Ascend and then enter a brief state of sustained flight.
• Maelstorm of Madness (E): Release Dark Magic to deal damage to nearby enemies.
• Pentagram of Farallah (F): Open portals between two locations, enabling all units to travel through them.
• Shield of the Seraphim (Right Click): Create a protective barrier against damage.
• Price of Magic (Passive): Dark Magic accumulates with every hit on an enemy. If Dark Magic peaks for too long, Strange will be cursed with Anti-Heal.

Emma Frost

Difficulty: 3 Star

Abilities:

• Psionic Seduction (Q): Project a forward psychic assault that stuns foes and prevents them from unleashing their Ultimate Abilities; if the effect lingers, it gradually commandeers their mind, forcing them to move toward Emma Frost.
• Diamond Form (LShift): Activate Diamond Form to transform your attack style while gaining Damage Reduction and becoming Unstoppable.
• Psychic Spear (E): Seize control of an enemy's sentience - damage dealt to the sentience cascades to the physical form and can be pierced by Telepathic Pulse. When the sentience shatters, it unleashes extra damage on its owner.
• Mind's Aegis (Right Click): Create a levitating barrier at the designated location.

Groot

Difficulty: 2 Star

Abilities:

• Strangling Prison (Q): Fire a massive vine cluster that pulls nearby enemies to its centre and imprisons them.
• Thornlash Wall (LShift): Target a location and grow a Thornlash Wall. When awakened, it strikes nearby enemies attacked by Groot and his allies.
• Ironwood Wall (E): Target a location and grow an Ironwood wall. When the wall is awakened, damage dealt by Groot and nearby allies grants the hero Bonus Health.
• Furious Flora (F): Perform a combo with his arms, and the third strike will slightly launch up the hit enemy airborne.
• Spore Bomb (Right Click): Throw an explosive Spore Bomb that splits into multiple small explosive spores.
• Flora Colossus (Passive): Wooden walls near Groot will awaken, activating an extra effect. Press Right Click while building a wooden wall to continue building additional walls.

Magneto

Difficulty: 2 Star

Abilities:

• Meteor M (Q): Draw in all materials around to forge an iron meteor that deals massive damage upon impact. Absorbing enemy projectiles can enhance the meteor's power, yet overloading will cause it to self-destruct.
• Metallic Curtain (LShift): Change the magnetic field around to form a metallic curtain, blocking all incoming projectiles.
• Metal Bulwark (E): Conjure a metal shield around a chosen ally. Damage taken will transform into rings on Magneto's back.
• Iron Bulwark (F): Conjure an iron shield around himself. Damage taken will transform into rings on Magneto's back.
• Mag-Canon (Right Click): Convert the iron rings on Magneto's back into a Mag-Cannon and launch a metallic mass forward. Higher stacks of rings increase damage, and full stacks knock back enemies.
• Magnetic Descent (Space): Hold the Space button to fall slowly.

Peni Parker

Difficulty: 4 Star

Abilities:

• Spider-Sweeper (Q): Enhance the suit, launching up enemies in its path and deploying Archano Mines, Spider Drones, and Cyber-Webs repeatedly.
• Bionic Spider Nest (LShift): Generate a Bionic Spider-Nest at a targeted area, periodically spawning Spider-Drones and creating Cyber-Webs. While in the webs, Peni gain healing over time along with a movement boost. Excess healing converts into Bonus healing.
• Archano-Mine (E): Deploy Archano-Mines that can be concealed within the confines of a Cyber-Web.
• Cyber-Bond (F): Shoot a web strand that links to the targeted area or Cyber-Web. If stretched too far, it will trigger a pullback.
• Wall Crawl (Space): Hold Space button to crawl on vertical surfaces.
• Cyber-Web Snare (Right Click): Cast futuristic webbing that immobilises enemies or creates a Cyber-Web. While in the Cyber-Web, gain healing over time and a movement boost. Excess healing converts into Bonus healing.

The Thing

Difficulty: 1 Star

Abilities:

• Clobberin' Time (Q): Uses immense power to launch all enemies in front of you into the air.
• Yancy Street Charge (LShift): Continuously charge forward, launching at enemies and leaving behind a zone at the final position that prevents the use of mobility abilities.
• Embattled Leap (E): Jump towards your ally and apply damage reduction to both of you.
• Battle Blitz (F): Jump toward an enemy and apply damage reduction to self.
• Stone Haymaker (Right Click): Deliver a devastating Heavy Blow.
• Unyielding Will (Passive): Immune to launch up, knockback, and other displacement effects.

Thor

Difficulty: 3 Star

Abilities:

• God Of Thunder (Q): Soar upwards and smite the ground after charging for a duration, inflicting damage on enemies within range.
• Storm Surge (LShift): Hold to spin Mjolnir before dashing forward and knocking back enemies.
• Lightning Realm (E): Summon lightning that restores Thorforce based on the number of hit enemies.
• Awakening Rune (F): Consume Thorforce to enter the Awakened state, granting Bonus Health and enhancing Mjolnir Bash.
• Hammer Throw (Right Click): Throw Mjolnir forward, which then returns.
• Thorforce (Passive): Consume Thorforce to gain Bonus Health. Landing Mjolnir Bash on an enemy instantly recharges Thorforce.

Venom

Difficulty: 1 Star

Abilities:

• Feast of the Abyss (Q): Burrow underground for free movement. After a duration or by pressing Primary 1, devour enemies above to deal damage based on the enemy's current health and generate equivalent Bonus Health.
• Venom Swing (LShift): Launch webbing forward, allowing for a singular swing in the desired direction.
• Symbiotic Resilience (E): Generate Bonus Health against damage. The lower Venom's health, the greater the Bonus Health generated.
• Frenzied Arrival (F): Dash to the target location from a certain height. Upon landing, damage nearby enemies, and launch them up towards the landing point.
• Cellular Corrosion (Right Click): Unleash tentacles to Slow enemies within reach. Enemies unable to break free in time will suffer damage.
• Alien Biology (Space): Press the Space button to wall crawl, and while crawling, left-click to sprint.

Duelists (Offensive, DPS-focused)

Duelists are the primary damage provider of a team, as per the Marvel Rivals guide. The characters mainly focus on inflicting as much damage as possible and also securing eliminations to ensure their progress. While some of them excel in one-on-one combat style, a few inflict AoE (area of effect) damage, which targets multiple targets at once. While they prioritise securing eliminations for their team, their secondary job remains as the protector of the Strategists. Here's a list of all Duelist Marvel Rivals characters in-game:

Black Panther

Difficulty: 4 Star

Abilities:

Bast's Descent (Q): Summon Bast, pouncing forward, dealing damage, and attaching a Vibranium Mark to enemies hit while refreshing Spirit Rend.

Spirit Rend (LShift): Lunge forward and deal damage to enemies. Vibranium Mark produces Bonus Health and refreshes the ability.

Spinning Kick (E): Spiral forward and attach a Vibranium Mark to hit enemies.

Subtle Step (Space): Hold Space button to run on a wall; perform a jump after detaching from the wall.

Spear Toss (Right Click): Toss a Vibranium energy spear forward, creating a Vibranium Force Field and attaching a Vibranium Mark to enemies in its radius.

Panther's Cunning (Passive): Deal higher damage when at low Health.

Black Widow

Difficulty: 4 Star

Abilities:

• Electro-Plasma Explosion (Q): Switch the Red Room Rifle to Destruction mode and unleash an electro-plasma blast, damaging enemies within range and leaving plasma on the ground to Slow nearby enemies.
• Fleet Foot (LShift): Dash forward with those fertile feet and enable a powerful jump.
• Edge Dancer (E): Unleash a spinning kick to knock enemies airborne. Landing the hit will allow her to zip to the target with a grappling hook for a second kick.
• Straight Shooter (Right Click): Switch the Red Room Rifle to Sniper mode to fire high-energy rounds.

Blade

Difficulty: 3 Star

Abilities:

• Thousand_Fold Slash (Q): Charge power and swiftly draw the Sword of Dracula, executing a powerful Iaido strike as you dash forward, leaving behind a slashing zone where the sword automatically strikes enemies. Enemies hit suffer Reduced Healing.
• Daywalker Dash (LShift): Dash forward. If wielding your gun, shoot at enemies upon impact, applying a Healing Reduction effect. If wielding your sword, deliver a cleaving strike that inflicts Slow.
• Bloodline Awakening (E): Awaken the Dhampir bloodline, enhancing slash speed during continuous attacks and triggering Whirlwind Slash. While under this state, you suffer Reduced Healing, but attacks gain Lifesteal.
• Scarlet Shroud (Right Click): Parry with Ancestral Sword to become Unstoppable for a brief period, reducing damage taken from the front and decreasing the cooldown of Daywalker Dash.

Hawkeye

Difficulty: 4 Star

• Hunter's Sight (Q): Capture Afterimages of enemies in his view. Damage dealt to an Afterimage is transferred to the corresponding enemy.
• Crescent Slash (LShift): Unsheathe a katana and slash forward, launching up enemies hit.
• Hypersonic Arrow (E): Shoot a Hypersonic Arrow, dealing two instances of damage to enemies in its path and inflicting them with Slow. This ability can Knock Down flying heroes.
• Ronin Slash (V): Swing a wakizashi to strike frontal enemies, deflecting all incoming projectiles.

• Goddess of Death (Q): Soar into the sky and unleash Nastrond Crows from each hand at will.
• Astral Flock (LShift): Transform into a Nastrond Crow to glide forth, press again to undo the transformation.
• Soul Drainer (E): Project an explosive Hel sphere to stun nearby enemies.
• Piercing Night (Right Click): Fire multiple Nightsword thorns that detonate after a delay.
• Nastrond Crowstorm (Passive): Defeating an enemy will generate a Nastrond Crow, exploding after a duration.

Iron Fist

Abilities:

• Living Chi (Q): Become living Chi to boost his speed, damage, and attack range, delivering stronger punches while reducing the cooldown of Dragon's Defence.
• K'un-Lun Kick (LShift): Dash forward, delivering a flying kick when hitting an enemy or reaching full range, dealing damage to nearby enemies. Damage increases with lower enemy health.
• Harmony Recovery (E): Cross legs and channel Chi, slowly gaining Bonus Health.
• Crane Leap (Space): Perform up to three consecutive jumps while airborne.
• Dragon's Defence (Right Click): Assume a defensive stance with the boost of Chi to block incoming attacks and gain Damage Reduction. Once he exits the defensive stance, he gains Bonus Health and can strike back with Yat Jee Chung Kuen.
• Wall Runner (Space): Run horizontally along the walls.

Mister Fantastic

• Brainiac Bounce (Q): Leap upward and smash the ground, slowing enemies within range. Can leap again upon landing a hit.
• Reflexive Rubber (LShift): Stretch body to absorb damage before launching stored damage in the targeted direction.
• Flexible Elongation (E): Gain a shield, select a target, and dash towards them, dealing damage to enemies and granting Shield to allies.
• Distended Grip (Right Click): Extend arms forward to entangle an enemy, then press LMB to pull the hit enemy toward you, or select and yank another enemy, knocking them airborne against each other.
• Elastic Strength (Passive): Using abilities generates Elasticity, boosting attack power. Reaching full Elasticity triggers an Inflated state that grants Shield and boosts even more damage.

Moon Knight

Difficulty: 3 Star

• Hand of Khonshu (Q): Open a portal that allows Khonshu to bombard enemies with his talons.
• Night Glider (LShift): Hold the L SHIFT button to glide.
• Ancient Ankh (E): Fire an Ankh to launch enemies within its radius towards the centre.
• Moonlight Hook (F): Launch a frontal grappling hook that pulls Moon Knight towards it.
• Rising Leap (Space): Perform a double jump.
• Moon Blade (Right Click): Launch forward a Moon Blade that can bounce between enemies and Ankhs, dealing damage to enemies.
• Triple Eclipse (V): Perform a combo with his truncheon, and the third strike will launch the enemy hit slightly.

Namor

• Horn of Proteus (Q): Summon Giganto to leap atop enemies within range, disabling their mobility abilities.
• Blessing Of The Deep (LShift): Summon a protective barrier while flying upwards.
• Aquatic Dominion (E): Summon a Monstro Spawn that can autonomously attack enemies.
• Wrath Of The Seven Seas (Right Click): Launch the trident forward to damage nearby enemies, then direct all Monstro Spawn to perform an enhanced attack on the nearest hit enemy. When the trident hits an enemy, Monstro Spawn enters a berserk state, gaining increased Attack Speed.

Phoenix

Difficulty: 3 Star

Abilities:

• Endsong Inferno (Q): Soar into the sky with the Phoenix and crash down onto a selected area, dealing devastating damage to enemies while creating a shockwave that destroys enemy Summons, Shields, and any Bonus Health. Enemies hit are applied with 1 Spark.
• Telepathic Illusion (LShift): Leave behind an illusion and instantly teleport in the desired direction, followed by detonating the illusion. Enemies hit are applied with 1 Spark.
• Dark Ascent (E): Merge with the Phoenix, entering a state of free flight. Gain a Movement Boost while continuously replenishing ammunition.
• Telekinesis Burst (Right Click): Mark a targeted area with psionic energy, followed by a series of fiery explosions. The first blast Stuns enemies, while the subsequent two explosions inflict Slow. Applies 1 Spark to enemies hit.

Psylocke

Difficulty: 5 Star

• Dance Of The Butterfly (Q): Slash nearby enemies with a psionic katana, dealing massive damage.
• Psi-Blade Dash (LShift): Dash forward and slice through enemies along the path with psionic blades.
• Psychic Stealth (E): Enter stealth and gain a Movement Boost.
• Wing Shurikens (Right Click): Launch a volley of psionic shurikens that stick to enemies, dealing damage and granting herself Bonus Health. Press again to recall the shurikens.

Scarlet Witch

• Reality Erasure (Q): Engage in free-flight while charging energy, then unleash it to deal massive damage.
• Mystic Projection (LShift): Enter the Phased state for free-flight. Press again to exit early.
• Dark Seal (E): Land a hit on a target or the scene, or press E to generate a Force Field that periodically stuns enemies within range.
• Telekinesis (Space): Hold Space button to fall slowly.
• Chthonian Burst (Right Click): Consume Chaos Energy to fire explosive magic missiles, damaging enemies.

Spider Man

• Spectacular Spin (Q): Launch Web-Clusters all around to damage and Stun enemies.
• Web-Swing (LShift): Shoot a strand of webbing to swing.
• Get Over Here! (E): Shoot webbing to reel in the hit enemy. If the enemy is tagged with a Spider-Tracer, Spider-Man will get pulled to them instead.
• Amazing Combo (F): Launch an enemy upward, dealing extra damage to the enemy with a Spider-Tracer.
• Thwip and Flip (Space): Perform a double jump.
• Wall Crawl (Space): Press the Space button to wall crawl, and while crawling, left-click to sprint.

Squirrel Girl

• Squirrel Blockade (Right Click): Launch an acorn to unleash Squirrel Guards, imprisoning the first hit enemy.

Star-Lord

Difficulty: 2 Star

• Galactic Legend (Q): Engage in free-flight and lock onto enemies in sight.
• Rocket Propulsion (LShift): Consume energy to gain a Movement Boost and soar forward.
• Blaster Barrage (E): Fire a frenzy of shots, causing damage to enemies within range.
• Stellar Shift (Right Click): Dodge in the direction of movement and swiftly reload. Gain 25 Bonus Health when using Stellar Shift (max 25), which lasts for 3s before decaying to 0 over 1s.

Storm

• Omega Hurricane (Q): Transform into a hurricane to draw in nearby enemies and deal damage.
• Weather Control (LShift): Switch the weather to empower allies: Tornado grants a Movement Boost; Thunder grants a Damage Boost.
• Goddess Boost (E): Channel the power of the weather to empower Storm: Tornado grants a Movement Boost and inflicts Slow on enemies; Thunder grants a Damage Boost and summons lightning to inflict damage.

The Punisher

• Final Judgement (Q): Unleash two Gatling guns and missiles to attack enemies.
• Vantage Connection (LShift): Launch a hook to generate a cable that enables the Punisher to move rapidly by pressing F.
• Culling Turret (E): Deploy a Culling Turret that grounds Punisher and blocks damage from the front while dealing massive damage.
• Scourge Grenade (Right Click): Throw a smoke grenade forward to obscure enemy vision and leap backwards.
• Warrior's Gaze (Passive): Retain vision of enemies that disappear from view for a short duration.

Winter Soldier

Abilities:

• Kraken Impact (Q): Leap high, then dash forward and slam down with the bionic arm, dealing damage to enemies in range, marking them for Culling. Marked enemies will perish instantly if their health falls below a certain threshold, recharging the bionic arm for another Kraken Impact within a short period.
• Trooper's Fist (LShift): Dash forward, seizing enemies along the path and launching up enemies at the end of the dash.
• Tainted Voltage (E): Charge up and launch a powerful electrical punch with the bionic arm in the target direction, dealing damage to enemies within range and slowing them. This ability can Knock Down flying heroes.
• Bionic Hook (Right Click): Charge up and launch a hook with his bionic arm, reeling in the first target hit and enemies lurking behind.
• Ceaseless Charge (Passive): Roterstern reloads automatically while the bionic arm is in action, granting Bonus Health to the Winter Soldier.

Wolverine

• Last Stand (Q): Knock enemies ahead airborne and spiral through the air, sweeping up enemies along the path and delivering a devastating impact at the landing point.
• Feral Leap (LShift): Leap like an animal to snatch the first enemy upon impact and smash them to the ground. Unleashing this ability will enhance his normal attack to Berserk Claw Strike for a brief period.
• Undying Animal (E): Unleash a fierce howl to briefly reduce incoming damage.

Strategists in Marvel Rivals are the primary source of healing in any team. However, healing isn't the only utility they are capable of using mid-game. Abilities:

• Karmic Revival (Q): Awaken the karma of allies to revive them. Allies revived have lower health but enjoy a brief period of Invincibility.
• Soul Bond (LShift): Forge a soul bond with allies, granting Healing Over Time and distributing damage taken across the bond.
• Avatar Life Stream (E): Target an ally for a bouncing stream of healing energy, which also heals himself upon casting; self-targets if no ally is selected.
• Cosmic Cluster (Right Click): Gather quantum energy into a cluster and then swiftly launch it at the enemy.
• Regenerative Cocoon (Passive): Once his body perishes, Adam Warlock can freely move as a soul and reforge his body at a chosen spot.

• Invisible Boundary (Q): Manifest an unseen forcefield within a chosen area, rendering allies inside undetectable by enemies and providing healing over time. Enemies that pass through the field are slowed.
• Psionic Vortex (LShift): Gather psionic energy and cast it. Upon hitting a target, scene or pressing the LShift key again, it erupts into a psionic vortex, continuously drawing in enemies and causing damage.
• Force Physics (E): Manipulate psionic energy to push or pull enemies in front of you.
• Agile Strike (V): Release a three-hit combo; the third attack will launch up enemies in front.
• Veiled Step (Space): Generate a force field at your feet; stepping on it propels you into the Invisible state.
• Guardian Shield (Right Click): Generate a force field in front of a selected ally. The shield can block damage and provide Healing Over Time to nearby allies. Enemies that pass through the shield are slowed.

• Healing Bubble (E): Spit a bubble that heals the ally who collects it, granting them Healing Boost and Movement Boost while also launching up nearby enemies.
• Aqua Burst (Right Click): Launch a high-speed water sphere that bursts upon impact, dealing damage to enemies within range.
• Oblivious Cuteness (Passive): Reduce damage taken from critical hits.

Loki

• Devious Exchange (F): Swap with selected Illusion.
• Backstab (V): Pull out a dagger to stab enemies, dealing extra damage when attacking an enemy from behind.
• Deception (Right Click): Become Invisible and conjure an Illusion to deceive enemies.

Luna Snow

• Fate Of Both Worlds (Q): Take centre stage and start dancing! Press to toggle between two performances: Heal allies or grant them Damage Boost.
• Ice Arts (LShift): Fire ice shards for a short duration, damaging enemies or healing allies while restoring her own Health.
• Share The Stage (E): Attach Idol Aura to an ally. Allies with Idol Aura also restore Health when Luna Snow is healing others.
• Absolute Zero (Right Click): Cast a clump of ice to freeze the hit enemy and restore Health.
• Cryo Heart (Passive): Automatically restore Health when casting Ice Arts or Absolute Zero.
• Smooth Skate (Passive): Keep moving forward to start ice skating and enable higher jumps.

Mantis
