The Basketball fans are up for a treat with Play by Play Studios, an Indie studio based in America, which has announced NBA The Run. The upcoming title will be an online 3v3 arcade-style game, featuring fast-paced gameplay. In a world where every basketball fan leans towards 2K Games' flagship NBA titles, this will be a breath of fresh air.

Even though the studio hasn't officially announced the NBA The Run release date. It has been confirmed that the title will be available in 2026. An Arcade-Style Fast-Paced Basketball Game Features Bobbito Garcia

Those who're familiar with the NBA Street series or are avid followers of the professional league are already familiar with Bobbito Garcia. The NYC Basketball cultural Icon has already been confirmed to be the announcer of the series. Meanwhile, the street courts available in the gameplay footage are handcrafted. Interestingly, Play by Play Studios consists of a few EA Sports developers. Therefore, it'll be interesting to see what sort of gameplay tweaks they'll implement in this fast-paced game.

Coming to the main question, whether players can play with their favourite NBA player, the answer remains uncertain. The officials, however, have secured both NBPA and NBA licences. Moreover, recent gameplay footage confirms the availability of NBA stars, such as Luka Doncic, Stephen Curry, LaMelo Ball, and others. The only catch is that the player models won't be as realistic as NBA 2K games.

While we are yet to receive detailed information on the gameplay, officials have confirmed that the title will support crossplay. It can be played both solo and with friends. Another interesting fact is that it uses rollback netcode technology.

For those who aren't familiar, it's a technology that minimises the impact of ping differences. Large-scale studios generally use this tech for fighting games. This certainly serves as a wake-up call for 2K Games, which already has these issues.
