Overwatch 2 Tier List: Best Heroes Ranked for Competitive Play

Overwatch 2 Tier List
Table of content

Overwatch 2 Season 20 mid-season update has just gone live, and the meta has been shifted slightly. While several Heroes have regained their true form, some have gone to the bottom, adding no extra value to the team. Meanwhile, the introduction of level-based perks has also brought a new essence to the classic Overwatch standards. With Vendetta being the latest addition to the ever-expanding list, DPS players are now taking a fresh breath of air.

Amidst these changes, players might feel confused about which Hero to pick and which character should not be in the team. Moreover, since the meta-shift is inevitable in any Hero Shooter, it's the best time to check out the Overwatch 2 Tier List for Season 20 in January 2026.

As discussed in the previous section, meta-shift is an inevitable thing in Hero Shooter titles. With the Overwatch 2 mid-season update going live, it's high time we dive into the tier list to track trending Heroes and which characters exist there and add no value to the meta.

Those familiar with Blizzard's creation have a brief idea of the three roles: Tank, DPS, and Support. Therefore, whether you're a veteran or entering the Overwatch world to try something fun, this Overwatch 2 Tier List should be your go-to cheat sheet. This list ranges from S to C tier. S-Tier characters should be your go-to pick if you want to make yourself useful, while C-Tier characters are there to create some drama during key fights. That said, here's a glimpse of our tier list:

  • S Tier: Must pick Heroes
  • A-Tier: Strong and reliable picks that add key value to your game
  • B-Tier: Decent picks, might prove strong depending on situations
  • C-Tier: Clearly, if you want to sabotage your gameplay

Meanwhile, if you're looking for an entirely different game altogether, consider checking out our coverage of the Arknights Enfield Tier List.

S-tier characters include the best from the Overwatch 2 DPS tier list, Tank, and two Support characters. Following the Season 20 update, these Heroes have one of the best success rates in-game.

  • D.Va: D.Va is clearly the only S-Tier Tank out there in Overwatch. She's basically everywhere around the map, thanks to her boosters. Following the buff to her Extended Boosters perk, she can now deal 40% increased damage to her opponents.
  • Sojourn: Sojourn has been the best DPS hero out there, especially after developers introduced her with the Deceleration Field perk, which slows enemies. Meanwhile, let's not her kill potential, thanks to her Railgun.
  • Kiriko: No matter how many nerfs the developers have implemented, this Kitsune Girl is just unstoppable. Whether you talk about teleporting through walls or her mobility, mastering her would make you a non-tracking target.
  • Lucio: Lucio has great teamfight potential and surely has one of the underrated but strongest ultimates in-game. His Crossfade is surely a game-changing ability that can end the whole brawl game in a matter of seconds.

  • Sigma: Despite receiving some buffs at the beginning of the season, developers have hotfixed his power. Be it his gravitational force or Hyperspheres, players can rely on it to clutch important moments in every match.
  • Ashe: If you have confidence in your aim, then Ashe should be your go-to operator. I must say the range and the kill potential are incredible. Meanwhile, her Ultimate Bob and the Dynamite are massively strong.
  • Symmetra: In case you're looking for one of the strongest DPSs in a team-play scenario, you're looking at the best. Even though she excels in close-range combat, her kill potential should be nerfed.
  • Baptiste: Baptiste is the best Support in Season 20, who can deal with massive AoE (Area of Effect) damage. Meanwhile, he has Exo Boosts that can be exploited to avoid poke damage from the opponents.
  • Wuyang: Wuyang is the latest addition to the ever-expanding Overwatch roster. He is suitable for long or mid-range poke gameplay. The controls are pretty easy, but you must know how to manage his kit because the healing potential is low compared to most Supports.

  • Orisa: Orisa, honestly, adds no extra value to any team unless you want to deal a lot of area damage with your crowd-control abilities, especially spamming Fortify. Meanwhile, the Spear is quite strong whether you're dealing with poke or dive characters.
  • Junker Queen: Junker Queen is surely one of the most underrated characters in this Season 20 meta. Even though she isn't the best pick on a poke meta, I think Flashpoint maps are her strongholds. Apart from Flashpoints, pick her on close-range maps to utilise her abilities carefully and win games.
  • Soldier 76: Soldier 76 is the most basic Hero in this DPS tier list. You have your Helix Rocket and Biotic Field to be a solo flanker or prove yourself useful in the poke gameplay. You are literally acting as a one-man army on the battlefield.
  • Hanzo: Shimada Clan's archer clearly isn't the best anymore. Despite having one of the best one-shot potential in-game, he's one of the hardest to play. Clearly, aim isn't the only thing that wins you games. His Scatter Arrow is surely something deadly for the Supports.
  • Ana: Let's be honest, it's just Nano Farming for Ana mains. As an Ana main myself, I feel so terrible dealing with this much poke damage. Well, you can farm your fast compared to other Supports, but you need to use it properly.

  • Roadhog: Roadhog is surely one of the worst Tank Heroes to play with in this meta. If you ever see this powerful enforcer in your opponent, you'll know that the game is yours. Since he's literally unkillable unless your whole team is focusing on him, Roadhog helps the opponent farm ultimates to win the game easily.
  • Junkrat: Unless you have like 5,000 to 10,000 hours on Junkrat, there's no point just spamming grenades throughout the whole game. You might think this could be a great Hero in the poke meta, but trust us, it's not. Speaking from experience, this explosives-obsessed demolitionist could be a bit annoying, especially if you're new to this game.
  • Lifeweaver: Lifeweaver is the worst character in the Support category in this Season 20 mid-season meta. The healing output is surely not upto the mark. Meanwhile, his Life Grip and Petal Platform might seem useful at some points, but they add no unique value.

That's all we have to discuss about the Overwatch 2 Tier List. If you're interested in exploring tier lists of other games, make sure to check out our coverage on the Genshin Impact Tier List.
