Pokemon Champions Launches as the New Home of Competitive VGC

During the 30th Anniversary Pokemon Presents event held on February 27, 2026, The Pokemon Company gave relief to their competitive fans' anticipation by announcing the Pokemon Champions Release Date. This new, battle-centric title is meant to be the ultimate platform for Pokemon Video Game Championships (VGC); thus, the idea of switching software with every mainline generation is set aside.

The Pokemon Champions Release Date has been officially announced as April 2026 on the Nintendo Switch family of systems, thus including the just-released Switch 2.
