Pokemon Go Level Requirements Guide: All Rewards List

Pokemon Go Level Requirements
Table of content

Just like any other progression-based game, Pokemon GO also provides trainer to climb various levels to mark their progress, which certainly makes it an important aspect of the game. The higher you level up as a trainer, the stronger Pokemon you can catch. Furthermore, you can also unlock more items and rewards associated with it. In addition, you will be eligible for more advanced features such as raids, gyms, and Mega Evolutions. Pokemon GO was launched way back in 2016. When the game was first released, the max level was 40, and it took quite a grind for the vast majority of players to reach. Niantic added a level 41 - 50 unlock a few years back, and not only were the requirements more difficult to achieve there were also other stats beyond just internally grinding XP.

If you are also planning to climb the levels in Pokemon GO and need guidance with this, we will provide you with a full list of Pokemon Go level requirements, item rewards, and key unlocks from levels 1 to 50, to help you track your leveling progress. You will also be able to learn about levelling, how to gain XP more quickly, and common mistakes that trainers make when attempting to grind their trainer XP for leveling up. Read more to find out about the detailed Pokemon Go Level Requirements Guide.

Leveling System in Pokemon Go

The leveling system is mainly based on experience points (also called XPs). From Level 1 to 40, you only need to collect XP points to move forward. Now, this can be earned through catching Pokemon, battling in gyms, completing raids, hatching eggs, spinning PokéStops, and other in-game activities.

But, this only works till level 40. Therefore, after Level 40, the system changes a bit. To advance from here onwards, which is Level 41 to 50, you must not only collect XP points but also complete special level-up challenges. These challenges can include catching a certain number of Pokemon in a day, winning battles in different leagues, defeating Team Go Rocket members, or evolving Pokemon in specific ways, which we all discuss in a bit.

Not to mention, another big change after Level 40 you need to take care of is the introduction of XL Candy, which is required to power up Pokemon beyond their previous CP limits. Learn more about Combat Power and other aspects of the game in our in-depth Pokemon GO Guide.

Pokemon Go Levels Key Unlocks

Niantic

Certain levels in Pokemon GO are important because they unlock new features, items, and gameplay. Therefore, you should know about those before levelling up. Here is a breakdown of all the key levels:

Level 5: Access to Gyms & Raids

At Level 5, you unlock access to Gym battles and Raid Battles. You can battle other trainers' Pokemon at Gyms, and you can participate with others in a Raid encounter.

Level 10: More items unlocked

At this level, you can unlock more items that you can get from PokéStops and have in your bag. You can now collect better Poké Balls, healing items, and evolution items, giving you more opportunities to strengthen your Pokemon collection.

Level 20: Higher CP Pokemon in the wild

Reaching Level 20 unlocks wild Pokemon that have a higher Combat Power (CP). Basically, you'll begin to encounter higher CP Pokemon in the wild, which will make it more of a challenge and much more rewarding to battle and capture.

Level 30: Access to Max level wild Pokemon

You can catch wild Pokemon that reach the max CP limit in the game. You can have higher CP ones since you don't need to evolve them, and can more easily have a competitive team of Pokemon.

Level 40: Prestige level

Level 40 is known as a prestige level and is also a milestone. At that point, you will have access to nearly all of the features of the game, such as top-level raids, high CP Pokemon, and special items.

Level 50: Current max level + challenges

Level 50 unlocks the highest current level of Pokemon GO. With extremely difficult challenges and rewards, players can really test their skills, face more difficult battles, and be rewarded with special avatar items and items like Elite TMs.

In addition to these levels, there are a few other key levels. One such is level 43. Pokemon Go level 43 requirements include earning high-level medals, Stardust, and catching legendary Pokemon.

Common Mistakes Leveling Up Mistakes in Pokemon Go

  • Evolving everything right away: This is the most common mistake players make in Pokemon Go. But waiting until you have Lucky Eggs or higher CP Pokemon makes it more efficient.
  • Not saving Lucky Eggs for events: Double XP events or special evolutions are where Lucky Eggs give you the most value. Therefore, you should save it for those events.
  • Not doing raids or research tasks: Huge XP and rare Pokemon come from these, but many people focus only on catching spawns.
  • Not walking your buddy or hatching eggs: You can miss out on candy and XP if you don’t keep these running.

This was all about Pokemon Go Level Requirements Guide, alongside some tips to earn fast XP in Pokemon Go. You can learn more about how to power up Pokemon at low cost in our separate guide online.
