Hydrobulbs are collectable items. When you use one, it restores 15 hydration points, making them your main source of water in the game. You can also put Hydrobulbs into the Analysing Station, where each one gives you 5 Data Points. As they are easy to find and collect in large numbers, they are good for farming Data Points.
You will find Hydrobulbs growing near rivers, lakes, or other water sources. They look like tall grass with bright blue sacs on them, so they are easy to find once you know what to look for. They respawn often, so you can come back and collect more later.

Once you have picked up a Hydrobulb, open your inventory and find it there. Use the expand button to see its options, then click Use. Your character will drink it, and your hydration meter will go up by 15. Collect and use Hydrobulbs often, at the beginning of the game, since they are important to stay hydrated.
As you progress, you can upgrade Hydrobulbs into better items using the Recipe Station. With the right upgrades, you can create things like: Aqua Fluid, Aqua Bar, Aqua Chew, Aqua Gel, Aqua Stim Shards, and Aqua Block Capsules.
Aqua Fluid: This gives you +28 Hydration but also adds +10 Toxicity. It’s stronger than basic hydration items, but you shouldn’t use it too often if your Toxicity is already high. To unlock it at the Recipe Station, you will need 30 Hydrobulbs and 20 Star Tears.
Aqua Gel: Aqua Gel restores a huge +75 Hydration, making it great for long or risky expeditions. Researching it at the Recipe Station will cost you 60 Hydrobulbs and 25 Grubblers.
You will also unlock other food and nutrition items, such as: Prickler, Figler, Nutri Fluid, Nutri Bar, Nutri Chew, Nutri Gel, Nutri Stim Shards, and Nutri Block Capsules.
