Summary
HoYoverse has already announced the next update for Zenless Zone Zero. Version 2.2, named “Do Not Go Gentle Into That Good Night,” will arrive on September 4, 2025. The update keeps the Waifei Peninsula arc moving, and this time, the Obol Squad from the Defense Force becomes the main focus. While the danger of Miasma keeps spreading in Hollow, Proxies need to follow what the Exaltists plan. The Yunkui Summit also appears to give support, so multiple groups join this battle. There is also a new agent story for Seed. This one tells about her connection with Seed Sr. and her earlier time. Finishing the story not only brings more detail to the character but also rewards like Polychrome and materials useful for upgrades. It also gives a better view of how she performs in combat.
Signal Search banners are again divided into two phases for this update.
- Phase One: Seed, an electric attack agent, will be available on her banner “Tearforged Blossoms.” Alongside, her W-Engine Cordis Germina shows up in a separate channel, “Dissonant Sonata.” Old agent Trigger also makes a rerun with banner “Crimson Huntress” and her W-Engine “Bloodfang Reignition.”
- Phase Two: Later in the version, the fire attacker Orphie joins the roster in “Wrathborn Duo.” She gets her own W-Engine Bellicose Blaze from channel “Dazzling Choir.” At the same time, Evelyn Banner returns in “Dreamchaser’s Elegy” with W-Engine Heartstring Nocturne.
Zenless Zone Zero Version 2.2 Events and Rewards
The Zenless Zone Zero patch comes with many special events, where Proxies can farm for Polychrome, upgrade stuff, and collectible items.

- Band of Brave Bangboo – Seed host Bangboo combat exam, where upgraded Bangboos fight Ethereal. Prize includes free Excaliboo and other rewards.
- Problem Soldier Boot Camp – Training mode where Seed, Orphie, and Magus take battle in an area full of hazards like electric fences and exploding tanks. Finish run, give Polychrome and gear.
- Spotlight Showdown – Organized by HIA, features a daily buff battle and a harder stage with agent restriction. Drop include Tuning Calibrator and Polychrome.
- Rhythm Rave – Party event by Paige, where hitting the beat correctly gives a high score and a reward like a unique namecard and Polychrome.

- Wish Bottle Adrift – Relax theme event where wishes are written into a bottle and thrown to sea. More bottles unlock more Polychrome and upgrade stuff.
Some older modes return with a change.
- Shiyu Defense and Deadly Assault are back with a new enemy roster and now an easier preset team switch.
- Routine Cleanup provides new commissions with higher rewards and introduces Drive Disc set Dawn’s Bloom and Moonlight Lullaby, made to suit the playstyle of new agents.
- For farming, both Routine Cleanup and Combat Simulation offer a double reward period.
Version 2.2 of Zenless Zone Zero mixes heavy story with lighter events, so players get a feeling of tension but also relaxation. The Waifei Peninsula arc and the spreading Miasma become more serious than before, which makes the story look darker. At the same time, smaller activities like a rhythm party from Paige or a treasure hunt with Ellen and Wandererboo bring a playful tone that stops the mood from getting too heavy. This balance between grim main tale and cheerful mini event means the update does not feel one-sided, and different kinds of players can enjoy it at their own pace.
The roster also changes in this version. Two S-rank agents, Seed and Orphie, debut with strong combat that really shifts how fights take place. Older agents are not forgotten, with Trigger and Evelyn making a rerun, so people who missed them earlier now have a chance again. On the companion part, Bangboo lineup gets bigger with Mr. Mercury and Excaliboo, and the second one even becomes a free reward for all who join the special event.
The reward list comes out quite big and spread over many activities. Just logging is enough to already gain Encrypted Master Tapes and Boopons, while events such as Band of Brave Bangboo, Spotlight Showdown, and Problem Soldier Boot Camp give resources that are important for long-term progress. Cosmetic reward is also there, with an exclusive name card that gives an extra reason for collectors to take part. The free Excaliboo Bangboo stands as the main highlight, since it gives a permanent ally without any spending.
Because of this system, both new Proxies who have only just begun and old Proxies who have already long time in the game find good things in the patch. Daily login feels more worthy, because each day brings small progress or a gift, and events keep changing, so the playstyle stays fresh. In the end, version 2.2 manages to put together a serious story and fun event, plus a rewarding prize, so players have a reason to come back to New Eridu again and again while this patch is active.
