The 38th match of IPL 2026 between Kolkata Knight Riders and Lucknow Super Giants went down to the wire. The match went into the Super Over after Mohammed Shami hit a six to Kartik Tyagi off the last ball of LSG's innings.

However, one thing that came into notice was Abhishek Nayar's plan for the Super Over. Nayar, known to be a tactical mastermind, played a brilliant masterstroke that left the Lucknow Super Giants in a shock.

Being the most experienced player of Kolkata Knight Riders, Narine was given the responsibility to bowl the Super Over. The mystery spinner showed that he has still got it with a perfect result for his team.

Narine bowled the dangerous Nicholas Pooran off the first ball of the Super Over with a perfect off-break on leg stump. The batter missed his swipe completely only to find out about his rattled stumps. Skipper Rishabh Pant took a single off the next ball.

However, Aiden Markram tried to smash the next ball over the leg-side boundary and in the process, was caught by a perfect catching mastery from Rovman Powell and Rinku Singh. It was Powell who caught the ball brilliantly and threw it back inside the boundary to Rinku, who was perfectly stationed.

Needing just 2 runs to win, Rinku smashed a four off the first ball to take his team home.

Massive Boost for Abhishek Nayar and KKR

Abhishek Nayar's KKR coaching career has not started well. The team has been under the scanner for several decisions, including their playing 11. However, the victory in the LSG vs KKR match will give Nayar and Knight Riders some relief as they climb up to the 8th position.

Meanwhile, Sunil Narine once again proved why he is still one of the best players in IPL despite being at the final stages of his career. Earlier, he had bowled a super four-over spell of 1-23 in four overs to push LSG into the backfoot during the middle overs. With the LSG vs KKR super over taking place, Narine raised his hands again to take KKR to an important win.

The LSG Super Over defeat has pushed them to the last spot in the IPL points table. They have been struggling this tournament and need an inspiration to get their campaign back on track.
