"Andhere" - Arshdeep Singh Lands In Another Trouble, Mocks Indian Captain With Racist Remarks

Punjab Kings and Mumbai Indians are set to clash in match 58 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 in Dharamsala, with PBKS fighting to stay alive in the playoff race while Mumbai Indians look to finish their season strongly.

Ahead of the game, however, social media attention shifted away from cricket after a viral video involving Arshdeep Singh and Tilak Varma sparked major controversy online. Tilak, who has recently been appointed the captain of India A team for the next month's tri-series, was playfully mocked by Arshdeep.

Arshdeep Singh Racist Remarks On Tilak Varma

According to reports and viral social media posts, Arshdeep Singh was heard making comments about Tilak Varma’s complexion while recording a video in Dharamsala ahead of the PBKS vs MI fixture.

Reports claimed the Punjab Kings pacer jokingly referred to Tilak as “andhere” (dark) and also made remarks involving sunscreen before pointing towards Mumbai Indians batter Naman Dhir. The video was widely circulated online, with several users calling the comments insensitive and inappropriate.

Some fans also pointed to Tilak Varma’s visible discomfort in the clip, although neither player has publicly addressed the incident so far. A section of social media users defended Arshdeep, describing it as friendly banter between teammates, while others demanded accountability over remarks linked to skin colour and asserted that racism in IPL is something that should not happen.

Arshdeep Singh's Season of Controversies

This is not the first time that Arshdeep Singh has found himself in trouble during the ongoing season of Indian Premier League. The left-arm pacer has been on the receiving end for his viral videos on social media despite below-par bowling displays.

Apart from it, Arshdeep's pictures with his rumored girlfriend, Samren Kaur, on the team bus was seen as the violation of rules put by the BCCI. The Arshdeep Singh Tilak Varma controversy has given the fast bowler a new headache now.

Being one of the best bowlers in IPL, Arshdeep is a key player in Punjab's line-up. However, he has picked up 13 wickets this season at an economy rate of close to 10. If PBKS are to return back to winning ways, Arshdeep will have a big role to play.
