GT Youngster Creates Record, Clocks Fastest Ball in IPL 2026

The ninth match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 between the Gujarat Titans (GT) and Rajasthan Royals (RR) caught everyone by surprise. GT's new fast bowling sensation Ashok Sharma did something extraordinary during the game which caught everyone's attention.

Ashok Sharma, who was playing only his second IPL match, clocked the fastest ball of the season so far. He went past LSG's Anrich Nortje during the GT vs RR IPL 2026 match to shatter the record books.

Gujarat Titans fast bowler Ashok Sharma wasn't highly impressive in their first encounter against Punjab Kings. However, the franchise went ahead with him and he didn't disappoint. It is among the fastest balls in IPL history.

Ashok, one of the emerging players of the IPL 2026, bowled four overs and returned figures of 1-37. Even in the previous match, he bowled four overs and conceded 41 runs. While he has been expensive, he his speeds have been impressive. Ashok Sharma bowling speed has been constantly around 145 kph, which has already caught the attention of cricket pundits.

Meanwhile, RR scored 210 runs in the first innings on the back of magnificent knocks from Yashasvi Jaiswal and Dhruv Jurel. Kagiso Rabada picked up 2-42 for Titans and was the most successful for them.

Ashok Sharma is a fast bowler plays domestic cricket for Rajasthan and has impressed many with his swing and pace bowling capabilities. He has 23 wickets in 11 T20 matches so far. The star pacer has also played four first-class matches in which he has taken 14 wickets and seven List A matches, picking up 13 wickets.

He is already seen as a next star in the IPL given his ability to bowl fast. The right-arm pacer was signed by Gujarat Titans for INR 90 lakhs in the IPL 2026 auction. It will be interesting to see how he performs in the rest of the tournament but he has already created a buzz.
