After MS Dhoni, Another CSK Star Suffers Injury, Ruled Out of...

Dewald Brevis injury

The injury woes continue to deepen for the five-time champions Chennai Super Kings as the middle order batter Dewald Brevis has been ruled out of the first few matches of IPL 2026. Being one of the best T20 batsmen in the world, Brevis was expected to be a key player for CSK in the middle order.

This is not the first time that a CSK player has been injured this season. Recently, MS Dhoni was ruled out of the first phase of IPL due to a calf strain. With Brevis not present now, this will dent CSK's batting order.

Dewald Brevis Injury: Massive Blow for CSK Middle Order

According to RevSportz, Brevis is recovering from a side strain which puts him out of the initial 2-3 matches of Chennai Super Kings. The right-hander is already with the squad and was training since the last few days. However, CSK's head coach Stephen Fleming confirmed that Brevis has got injured while training and will miss the first few matches.

The news of Dewald Brevis IPL 2026 absence for the initial phase has come out just a day prior to CSK's opening match against Rajasthan Royals. The match will be played at Guwahati, which is the home ground of RR. Their next two matches are against last year's finalists, Punjab Kings and Royal Challengers Bengaluru, respectively. Brevis is likely to miss both these matches.

CSK Injured Players 2026 List

Even before the beginning of the season, fast bowler Nathan Ellis got injured and hence, was ruled out of the entire season. It was a big blow for the Super Kings, one of the best teams in IPL. Left-arm pacer Spencer Johnson was roped in as his replacement for this season.

Dhoni's injury dented the team's hopes further with Sanju Samson expected to take the gloves in his absence. Despite all the injuries, CSK will hope for Brevis to be fit soon as he is a vital player for them. His ability to play spin in the middle overs makes him such a high-class player.

The youngster is in great form currently with 207 runs in 6 matches during the ICC T20 World Cup 2026 at a strike rate of around 147. In his absence, the onus will be on Sarfaraz Khan and Shivam Dube to rally the middle order.
