Sunrisers Hyderabad are having a great time in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026. Under the leadership of Pat Cummins, they have displayed a magical performance and are amongst the top teams in the IPL points table.

With SRH looking strong to win the title, fans have been recalling the old memories, especially of 2016, when they won the title. It was under the leadership of David Warner that the Sunrisers won the title and became the only team to win the title from the Eliminator position.

However, a few years after winning the title, the David Warner SRH issue started getting worse. He was sacked as the captain of the team in midway in IPL 2022 after his relations with the franchise went sour with Kane Williamson getting the leadership.

Warner, who won the IPL Orange Cap twice with SRH, was then released by the franchise. However, despite that, he kept supporting the SRH franchise and openly talked about his love for the fans as well as the franchise.

With the IPL 2026 season underway, Warner’s name with SRH has again come under the scanner. This is because Warner posted a picture on his Instagram account, where he shared a screenshot of SRH’s official Instagram account not being visible to him.

He asked the fans if that was the official account of the Sunrisers Hyderabad. According to Sportsdunia fact check, it is the official account of the franchise and Warner has been blocked again.

This is however, not the first time that SRH has blocked Warner. After the relationship between the two went sour in 2022, the franchise blocked him on social media and that saw many lashing out at them for not treating the batter well.

David Warner is undoubtedly a legend in the Indian Premier League. The left-handed opener was highly consistent during his playing days and has played for multiple franchises. He is currently fourth on the list of most runs in IPL. His average and strike rate is better than the ones above him, which tells you about his exceptional numbers in this league.

Why Was David Warner Blocked in 2023?

After Warner, one of the best batsmen in IPL history, was blocked by SRH in 2023, he was open to admit that he got hurt by the franchise’s antics. He also mentioned that despite the franchise blocking him, he has engaged with fans.

“Not sure why I was blocked. But, I did engage with a lot of fans on the social media side for SRH. I did feel it was my duty to engage with the fans, making sure they keep coming back. That's what is most important,” Warner had said back then.

“But from the blocking point of view, I don't know. I have been sitting on it for about 5 years. It was bizarre. At the end of the day, I still got fans who come onto my page and talk to everyone. So it's great,” he added.

The David Warner SRH Instagram controversy has erupted once again now. Now in 2026, the SRH has again blocked him and they would be hoping that fans won’t turn against them yet again, especially at a time when they are in the playoffs and need their support.
