The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is yet to announce the IPL 2025 final venue, which is scheduled for 3 June 2025. Kolkata’s iconic Eden Gardens was supposed to host the finals on 25 May 2025, but it got postponed due to security reasons.

The IPL 2025 final, which was going to be held at the Eden Gardens, is likely to get moved due to possible weather disruptions and the early onset of the south-west monsoon. According to Accuweather, there is a 65% chance of precipitation along with a 36% chance of thunderstorms. Almost two hours of rain are expected to occur in Kolkata on 3 June 2025, making it a risky call to schedule such a massive event. The IPL 2025 is already delayed by more than a week, and BCCI would not risk incurring any more losses.
Apart from weather disruptions, logistical reasons could also be the reason for this shift. As BCCI has already announced six venues on which the remaining league matches are supposed to be held, starting from 17 May 2025. These venues are in Bangalore, Jaipur, Delhi, Lucknow, Mumbai, and Ahmedabad. Although the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) has submitted a report to the BCCI, saying that it is impossible to predict the weather for June 3, hoping to retain the rights to host the mega IPL 2025 final, according to a report in RevSportz.

Which Stadium is the Forerunner to Host the IPL 2025 Final?

The BCCI would be analysing all the best possible options to host the IPL 2025 final, but Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad, might just be the forerunner in the list. The stadium has all the state-of-the-art facilities with a massive capacity of 1,32,000.

Another significant plus would be the suitable weather conditions in Ahmedabad, which would ensure smooth conduct of the game without any disruptions. Any further delay would result in chaos, and the organisers of the league will be looking to avoid that.

Fans' Reaction to this Shift of Venue

There is a mixed reaction from the fans regarding the shift of venue for the final clash from Eden Gardens to Narendra Modi Stadium. Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) as well as the people of Kolkata were awaiting the IPL 2025 final, and there is a sense of disappointment among them.
