India's most respected shooter, Raja Randhir Singh Asian Games gold medalist and five-time Olympic player, has a great history in the world of sports, as a player as well as administrator. He held several administrative positions in sports and was the first Indian to lead the Olympic Council of Asia as its president.

However, Raja Randhir Singh has a connection with cricket, but indirectly. He was born and brought up in the Royal Family of Patiala, where it was strongly linked with India's sports ecosystem, as his grandfather, Maharaja Bhupinder Singh, King of Patiala, was known for playing cricket. He led the first All-India cricket team to tour England in 1911 and played in 27 first-class matches. He also donated the Ranji Trophy and was instrumental in founding the BCCI. According to the reports, Raja Randhir Singh also used to play cricket during his school and college days.

Raja Randhir Singh's uncle, Maharaja Yadavindra Singh, was also a prominent cricketer who represented India in a Test match against England in 1934.
