Is Ayush Mhatre Out of IPL 2026

Chennai Super Kings have suffered another setback in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026, with their star batter Ayush Mhatre sustaining an injury during a crucial phase of the season.

The 18-year-old has been one of the few positives for the five-time champions in an otherwise inconsistent campaign, producing impactful knocks in the top order. However, concerns grew after he sustained an injury during the match against Sunrisers Hyderabad, which has left fans wondering if he will continue to play in the tournament or not.

Is Ayush Mhatre Ruled Out of IPL 2026?

According to Cricbuzz, Ayush Mhatre has suffered a hamstring tear and is set to miss a few matches for Chennai Super Kings, with further clarity expected after scans are scheduled for Monday.

The injury occurred while batting against SRH, especially when the batter was looking pretty good in the match; however, he departed after feeling uncomfortable following the injury and CSK also lost the match. Ayush Mhatre hamstring injury comes as a big blow for CSK, who are at the bottom half of the IPL points table.

The youngster has been one of the few batters who have consistently scored for his team with a good strike rate. It is a new addition to CSK injury updates, as they recently saw their star pacer Khaleel Ahmed ruled out of the league due to an injury.

Ayush Mhatre in Superb Form

Mhatre is the highest run-scorer for CSK this season and is also a contender for IPL orange cap. In just six matches, the youngster has scored 201 runs at an impressive strike rate of 177.87, including two crucial half-centuries. His ability to score quickly while also anchoring the innings has been a rare positive for CSK, one of the best teams in IPL history.

With Mhatre now set to miss a few games, CSK will have to look at their bench strength for replacements. The franchise has a few options available, including Kartik Sharma, Prashant Veer, and Urvil Patel, all of whom are waiting for an opportunity. While Kartik and Prashant Veer didn't have the same impact this season as Mhatre earlier, CSK will be hoping one of them can step up and fill the void left by their in-form young batter.
