Prince Yadav India Debut in Danger? Pacer Faces Pressure After Maiden India Call-Up

3 min
Prince Yadav celebrates a wicket

LSG's latest bowling sensation Prince Yadav was rewarded for his fantastic performance in IPL 2026 when he was selected in India squad for the ODI series against Afghanistan. It was a dream for Prince to play for his country and he finally achieved his maiden India call-up.

However, hours after his India debut, Prince was taken for plenty of runs in the IPL match against Rajasthan Royals. It was his first match after his international debut but he had an off day this time around.

Is Prince Yadav India Debut in Danger?

Despite an underwhelming bowling performance against Rajasthan Royals, Prince Yadav's India debut is not in any sort of danger. The fast bowler has earned his India selection with plenty of hard work and one off day doesn't define his talent.

During the RR vs LSG IPL 2026 match, Prince came in to bowl during the last over of the powerplay, in which the batting team is always looking to score runs. Bowling this over is never easy and usually the best bowler in the team bowls this over.

Being one of the best bowlers in IPL this year, Yadav has earned the respect to bowl the toughest overs for Lucknow Super Giants. However, it wasn't a great start for him as he was taken for 15 runs. The young batting sensation, Vaibhav Suryavanshi, was in full mood and smashed the in-form bowler for 2 fours and a six.

Prince's next over came during the 11th over of the innings and Suryavanshi once again showed why he is amongst the most dangerous batsmen in IPL right now. He smashed 2 sixes in this over as Prince conceded 15 more runs. Yadav made a terrific comeback in his third over of the day as he conceded just 5 runs. His final over yielded 8 runs, which included a six from Dhruv Jurel. Overall, Prince Yadav bowling after India selection was a mixed one as he returned figures of 4-0-43-0.

Prince Yadav's Magnificent IPL Season

Prince Yadav has picked up 16 wickets in 13 matches so far. However, the numbers do not show his skilful bowling performance this season. The right-arm pacer has an economy rate of just 8.71 on pitches which have been the best for batting.

With him being selected in the India squad, it marks a new beginning. He is now looked at as an option for the ODI World Cup 2027, where he has a chance to play alongside Virat Kohli, a dream that he has mentioned before.

The Indian Premier League has given platform to some of the most talented cricketers and Prince is one of them. His story is inspiring and despite LSG bowing out of the playoffs race, he remains a bright spot for them.
