Prashant Veer Creates New Record in IPL Auction 2026

Cricket fans around the world witnessed history being created at the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 auction in Abu Dhabi. The five-time IPL champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) showered money on a fresh and young Uttar Pradesh talent, Prashant Veer. The young all-rounder bagged a whopping amount of INR 14.20 crore at the IPL auction 2026.

Prashant Veer Most Expensive Uncapped Player

Prashant Veer CSK became the most expensive uncapped player in IPL history, getting 47.3 times his base price, which was set at just INR 30 lakh. CSK were troubled by the Rajasthan Royals earlier in the bidding war and later defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad to secure Veer's services for the upcoming IPL auction. Veer is a left-arm spinner and bats in the middle order for his domestic team. He's featured in 12 T20s so far, scoring 112 runs at a strike rate of 167.16 while picking up 12 wickets in nine innings at an economy rate of 6.45. After losing Ravindra Jadeja ahead of the mini-auction, it's safe to say that CSK have successfully found the replacement for the star all-rounder in the form of Prashant Veer.

Kartik Sharma Joins Prashant Veer as Most Expensive Uncapped Player

Moments after Prashant Veer became the most expensive uncapped player in IPL history, he was joined by Rajasthan wicketkeeper-batter Kartik Sharma, who was also bought by CSK at the same amount of INR 14.20 crore and became the joint most expensive uncapped player. In 10 domestic T20 matches, Kartik has scored 298 runs at a strike rate of 165.55, which also includes two fifties and a highest score of 58.

However, it's safe to say that Kartik won't have to take the wicketkeeping responsibility, since CSK already have one of the greatest wicketkeepers of all time, MS Dhoni. They also traded another star wicketkeeper, Sanju Samson, ahead of the mini auction from the Rajasthan Royals.
