Ricky Ponting's Reaction Goes VIRAL After Shashank Singh Drops Another Sitter vs DC

Delhi Capitals (DC) and Punjab Kings (PBKS) are up against each other in match 35 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026. The game between the two teams is taking place at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on New Delhi on Saturday, April 25.

DC won the toss and opted to bat. They had a decent start with the bat with PBKS coming up with a sloppy fielding effort. One of the major culprits behind their poor fielding has been Shashank Singh, who is also the vice-captain of Punjab Kings.

Shashank Singh seemed to have continued from where he left off in the last match when he dropped as many as three catches in the game against Lucknow Super Giants. It was expected that he would make a strong comeback here but that wasn’t the case.

PBKS would have had a great start with the ball as Arshdeep Singh almost removed KL Rahul. However, Shashank Singh dropped a sitter on the boundary line that left everyone shocked. The DC vs PBKS dropped catch later proved to be costly for his team as well.

Arshdeep bowled a short delivery, which KL Rahul pulled towards deep square leg. Shashank tried to reverse cup it, however, the ball went between his hands and raced towards the boundary rope for a four. What caught the attention of the fans was the reaction of the Punjab Kings head coach Ricky Ponting. The former Australian captain looked visibly angry and disappointed at the same time and gave a death stare to Shashank. PBKS owner, Preity Zinta, who was also present at the venue, looked disappointed as well.

Immediately after that, Shashank was taken off the field just ahead of the start of 6th over. In the pavilion, he was seen sitting with Ponting, who had a few words for him. This is not the first time that Shashank Singh, one of the best finishers in IPL, has dropped a catch. In the last game as well, he dropped a few sitters, however, it didn't cost his team much as they were in a commanding position.

Shashank Singh’s catch proved costly as KL Rahul slammed a brutal fifty during the DC vs PBKS IPL 2026 match. The DC opening batter attacked Punjab Kings bowlers right from the start and went on to hit a magical century, taking the IPL orange cap on the way.

On the back of Rahul's magnificent hundred, DC put up a gigantic score of 264-2 in 20 overs. In reply, Punjab scored 116-0 in the first six overs, the second highest powerplay score in IPL history. The match is likely to be a high-scoring thriller with the way it is going.
