SRH Qualifier 1 Scenario: How Sunrisers Hyderabad Can Finish In Top 2?

Sunrisers Hyderabad are having a great time in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026. Under the leadership of Pat Cummins, they have qualified for the playoffs and are looking like one of the hot favourites to win the title.

SRH had a sluggish start to their IPL 2026 campaign. In the absence of Pat Cummins, Ishan Kishan led the side initially and they lost the first three out of their four games in the tournament, which saw not many backing them to reach the playoffs.

However, they staged a terrific comeback and won five games on the trot. They defeated big teams to make their case strong for the playoffs. With qualification already secured, their next target would be to book a berth in the top two of the IPL points table.

Sunrisers Hyderabad are currently placed at the third spot on the points table. They have played 13 games in the tournament and have won eight so far with five losses under their belt. They also have a strong NRR of +0.350, which can act as a great boost for them.

SRH top 2 chances IPL 2026 are not in their own hands. To make it to the top, their first step would be to beat Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in their last league game. If that happens, they will move to 18 points.

However, that won’t be enough for them to make it into the top four. They would also need the Gujarat Titans to lose their last league game against the Chennai Super Kings. This would help them finish higher than GT and take the second spot on the points table.

If both GT and SRH win their last games, then three teams would be tied on 18 points and then NRR would come into play. Since RCB has the highest NRR of +1.065, irrespective of the loss, they are likely to finish in the top spot.

This means that a fight would be between GT and SRH for the second position. If SRH have to fancy their chances of qualifying for the top two, they need to beat RCB by a big margin, which would mean that they will pip GT in Net run rate.

Sunrisers Hyderabad playoff scenario became simple for them after they defeated CSK. SRH made it into the IPL 2026 playoffs following their brilliant five-wicket win at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai over the home side.

The win might have given SRH a boost for their playoff chances, however, it was heart-breaking for CSK, one of the best teams in IPL history, as they will need a miracle to qualify for the playoffs.
