The Rajasthan Royals vs Mumbai Indians clash in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 finally got underway after the rain interrupted the start in Guwahati. The match was reduced to an 11-over contest, and MI skipper won the toss and asked RR to bat first. Both the RR openers, Yashasvi Jaiswal and Vaibhav Suryavanshi, are known for their aggressive approach in the powerplay, and that's what happened in this match as well.

However, most of the eyes were on the matchup between the experienced MI bowler Jasprit Bumrah and RR's young prodigy Vaibhav Suryavanshi. To the surprise of everyone, the 15-year-old batter smashed a six off Bumrah on his very first delivery of the match. For those who don't know, it was also the first-ever face-off between the two players, and many predicted that Jasprit Bumrah would have the edge over Suryavanshi given his experience.

However, the youngster ended up winning the Vaibhav Suryavanshi vs Jasprit Bumrah battle as he smashed the best bowler in the world for a first-ball six. Fans also heaped praise on the left-handed batter as soon as he smashed the six.

The social media was clearly over the moon for Suryavanshi's aggression over Bumrah. While some called him the “greatest youngster”, some showed Bumrah's reactions after getting hit for a six.

Vaibhav Suryavanshi Jasprit Bumrah six wasn't the end of the story as he smashed another six off Bumrah while playing his third delivery against the veteran pacer. The left-handed batter from Rajasthan Royals didn't leave the other bowlers, either, as he punished every bad ball and made the most out of it.

Suryavanshi's stay ended on 39 runs, which he scored only in 14 deliveries, including one four and five sixes, batting at a strike-rate of 278.57. He was dismissed by Shardul Thakur in the fifth over, thanks to a brilliant catch by Tilak Varma at the deep extra cover. With this knock, he now has the most sixes in IPL this season.

Suryavanshi's magnificent form shows how much he has evolved from a prolific season last time around. He is already amongst the players with the highest strike rate in IPL. The RR opener has been batting freely and is likely to break many more records in the upcoming matches.

Meanwhile, Vaibhav Suryavanshi's knock enabled the Royals to get on top of the RR vs MI IPL 2026 match. On the back of brilliant knocks from Jaiswal and Suryavanshi, Rajasthan scored a mammoth 150-3 in 11 overs, leaving Mumbai with a daunting total to chase.
