David Warner Fined by Australian Police After Leaving PSL Midway

Former Australian cricketer David Warner has found himself in trouble amidst his break in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2026. The Karachi Kings captain was released from the squad due to a big gap between their two games in the league.

Warner, along with Adam Zampa, was allowed to spend some time with their families. While Zampa went on vacation, Warner went back home in Sydney to be with his family for a week.

However, back in Australia, things didn’t go in Warner's favour as he was fined by the Australian police on Sunday, April 5, just before he was planning to head back for the remainder of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2026.

David Warner Fined by Australia Police for Drink and Drive Case

According to 9News, legendary Australia batter David Warner was charged with drinking and driving in Sydney, and this happened when the former Australian batter stopped his car just before a random breath testing site on Malabar Road in Maroubra in Sydney's eastern suburbs at about 5.30pm on Sunday.

Upon suspecting something fishy, the police officers went towards his van and took the breath test, which returned a positive alcohol reading. This made the police arrest him and take him to Maroubra police station.

The police officials took another test of Warner, which also came positive with a reading of 0.104. Following two positive tests, police issued a Field Court Attendance Notice to appear before Downing Centre Local Court on May 7. David Warner drink and drive case has created a new controversy for the former Australian batter and it remains to be seen whether he can go back to play PSL or not.

Will David Warner Return for PSL 2026?

After playing their last match against Rawalpindi Pindiz on April 2, Karachi Kings are enjoying their time off. Their next game is against Peshawar Zalmi on April 9, meaning that they had a week break, during which Warner was released from the squad.

After David Warner arrest recently, it has raised questions over his return. However, Warner, one of the best T20 batsmen of all time, is expected to join the squad before their next game. Karachi are at the second spot on the points table with three wins in three games and the break surely would have refreshed them ahead of the upcoming games.

Warner has led from the front and has hammered 93 runs in three games. The opening batter has hit one half-century at a strike rate of around 139. He would be keen to carry his good form and help his team win the ongoing Pakistan Super League.
