Vaibhav Suryavanshi Equals Suresh Raina's Unbreakable Record During IPL Eliminator

RR's young teenage sensation Vaibhav Suryavanshi has already broken several records in the short span of his cricket career so far. The 15-year-old equalled another record during the IPL 2026 Eliminator match between Sunrisers Hyderabad and Rajasthan Royals at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium, New Chandigarh.

It was a high-pressure game but Suryavanshi is already batting on a different level. He showed his rich vein of form when his team needed him the most and smashed a record half-century against Rajasthan Royals. It was a stunning knock that gave the Royals an early advantage.

Vaibhav Suryavanshi Equals Suresh Raina Record

During the SRH vs RR Eliminator match, Suryavanshi reached his fifty off just 16 balls. He reached this feat with a six off Sakib Hussain over square leg. Interestingly, Vaibhav's fifty came in just the 4th over of the match, which shows about his brilliant batting display.

As a result, he now holds the record of joint fastest 50 in IPL playoffs. The left-handed opener has equalled the record of the IPL legend Suresh Raina, who reached the milestone in the same no. of balls during the IPL 2014 Qualifier 2 against Kings XI Punjab (now Punjab Kings) while playing for Chennai Super Kings.

Suryavanshi is already in the top 10 list for the fastest 50 in IPL as he took just 15 balls to score a half-century against CSK earlier this season. This list is led by Vaibhav's opening partner, Yashasvi Jaiswal, who has scored a 13-ball fifty in the IPL.

Stunning Knock From Vaibhav Suryavanshi

At a young age, Suryavanshi has already grown to become one of the most dangerous batsmen in IPL. It was truly a stunning knock from the RR youngster, who proved that he can also deal with the big-game pressure by performing in this match.

However, he missed the three-figure mark by just 3 runs as he holed out to Ravichandran Smaran off Praful Hinge's bowling. Suryavanshi was close to break Chris Gayle's record of fastest century in IPL but got out for 97 off just 29 balls, a knock which included 5 fours and 12 sixes.

However, Suryavanshi went past Chris Gayle's record of most sixes in a single season of IPL. Gayle hit 59 sixes during IPL 2012 while Vaibhav now has 60 sixes in the ongoing season. It was a highly entertaining innings that gave RR a huge advantage early into the match.
