What Happens if RR vs CSK Match Gets Washed Out?

The five-time champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) are set to play their first match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 against Rajasthan Royals (RR) at the Barsapara Stadium in Guwahati.

The fans have been waiting to witness the one of the best teams in IPL, CSK, in action, but there is some bad news for them, as there are high chances of the match getting washed out due to continuous rain at the venue.

What Happens If RR vs CSK Match is Washed Out?

As mentioned above, rain is likely to play spoilsport in the RR vs CSK IPL 2026 match, which makes the fans wonder what happens if this match gets washed out. In that case, both teams will share the points and receive one point each. There is no reserve day for the league matches in IPL 2026.

However, weather forecasts suggest that the rain could ease during the match, making a reduced-overs contest a strong possibility. Meanwhile, the ground staff did their job with a super-sopper while the covers were on till the toss to protect the outfield from getting wet.

Coming to the IPL 2026 reserve day rule, it is only for the playoffs and the final. These dates are yet to be announced from the BCCI and will be revealed after some days.

RR vs CSK Match Starts on time

Despite the rain threat, the Rajasthan Royals vs Chennai Super Kings match saw the toss taking place five minutes late compared to the usual time. The usual time for the toss is 7:00 PM; however, for the RR vs CSK match, the toss took place at 7:05 PM. The covers were also removed from the ground as the RR vs CSK rain forecast showed no rain at that point.

Meanwhile, RR skipper Riyan Parag won the toss and opted to bowl first. On the other hand, CSK will be without their veteran wicketkeeper-batter and former captain MS Dhoni, one of the best players in IPL.

The CSK vs RR H2H record is in Chennai's favor but they are only marginally ahead. While RR have a full-strength side, Chennai Super Kings have quite a few injury issues going into this match. It clearly affected their team combinations as they were clearly not at their best. The Royals are favorites to win this match and already have their opponents under the pump after the first innings.
