The Indian Premier League is scheduled to start in two months, in March 2026, and the fans are quite excited about it. The IPL is one of the biggest cricket leagues in the world with some of the best overseas players participating in the tournament. In the 19th edition of the IPL, many players from different countries are set to take part and represent various franchises.

Similarly, Bangladesh's cricketer Mustafizur Rahman was all set to play for the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the upcoming IPL 2026. The franchise had bought him for a massive amount of ₹9.25 crores during the mini auction on December 16. But now, he has been released from the squad ahead of the tournament which is a big setback for him.

The IPL committee instructed the KKR franchise to release Mustafizur Rahman from the squad after the political tensions started rising in Bangladesh against the Hindus. As a result, the communal groups in India threatened to boycott the IPL and cause problems during the matches.

After getting several threats from the groups, the BCCI urged the Shah Rukh Khan-owned franchise to let go off the player. The decision didn't sit well with the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) as BCCI or KKR didn't give any proper reasoning before letting go off the player.

Hence, the fans were wondering where to watch IPL in Bangladesh. The BCB banned the IPL 2026 live streaming in any platform in Bangladesh. The cricket fans in Bangladesh will not be able to watch the IPL matches for free until further notice.

The board has also sent a plea to the ICC to reschedule the T20 World Cup matches from India. All of Bangladesh's games were scheduled to be held in India in the marquee tournament. The ICC has not yet responded on the plea or the situation.

Bangladesh Players In IPL 2026

Bangladesh's star bowler Mustafizur Rahman was all set to represent KKR in IPL 2026. Rahman is highly experienced and one of the best T20 bowlers in the world. With experience, his bowling variations could have been helpful for KKR at the Eden Gardens, the oldest cricket stadium in India. He has played in 60 matches and taken 65 wickets at an average of 28.45 in the IPL.

Over the years, there are many players like Litton Das and Shakib Al Hasan have played in the tournament and represented several franchises. Even in this season, players like Nahid Rana, Taskin Ahmed, Rakibul Hasan, and others registered but couldn't find in any franchise and went unsold.

With the controversy around Rahman, it will be intriguing to see if the Bangladesh players will take part in the upcoming seasons of the IPL or just like Pakistan, they'll also be banned from the T20 league.
