Not RR Scouts, These Two Men Helped Vaibhav Suryavanshi Play In IPL

Rajasthan Royals have been in the IPL since its inaugural edition. However, they made a historic signing on November 25, 2024, when they picked up Vaibhav Suryavanshi in the IPL mega-auction.

Initially, everyone was excited and curious at the same time about this signing as Suryavanshi was just 13. While few applauded the RR team management for their brave decision, some argued how such a young player can contribute in the biggest cricket league in the world.

However, Suryavanshi defied the odds and proved RR's signing an absolute masterstroke. Ever since making his IPL debut, he has been exceptional in the league. He is not only scoring quick runs but is scoring them some high-level consistency which even the best have failed to achieve.

After his success, the main question arises about his recruitment process. There remains a big question how Rajasthan Royals spotted Vaibhav Suryavanshi at such a young age. However, it wasn't RR's scouts, but two other men who helped the youngster play in the IPL.

Who Scouted Vaibhav Suryavanshi For IPL?

According to the renowned sports journalist Abhishek Tripathi, it was the former Bihar Cricket Association President Rakesh Tiwari and the current ICC chairman Jay Shah, who played a key role in Vaibhav Suryavanshi IPL scouting.

Although the Rajasthan Royals scouting team is lauded for Suryavanshi's signing, it didn't have any role in getting the youngster into the league. The report also mentions that Rakesh Tiwari and Jay Shah worked hard to help IPL teams spot this unreal talent.

Initially, Suryavanshi didn't get any games to play as Rajasthan Royals preferred Sanju Samson and Yashasvi Jaiswal as their openers. However, Samson's injury opened the slot for Suryavanshi to make his IPL debut.

The left-hander took the opportunity with both hands and even smashed a six off his first ball of the league. It was a dream start for someone who was just 13 years old back then. He famously smashed that six off LSG bowler Shardul Thakur and smashed 34 off 20 balls while coming in as the Impact Player. Since then, he has never looked back and has been a key part of RR's batting line-up.

Vaibhav Suryavanshi Smashes Records in IPL Eliminator

Although there was no Vaibhav Suryavanshi RR scouting as per the reports, the team is already benefitting heavily from it. Recently, the youngster broke another record during the SRH vs RR Eliminator match at New Chandigarh.

Firstly, he equalled Suresh Raina's record of the fastest 50 in IPL playoffs. Then, he went on to surpass the Universe Boss Chris Gayle for the most sixes in a single IPL season. Gayle created this record of 59 sixes in an IPL season way back in 2012 but Suryavanshi has already gone past it. In the process, he also rose to the top of the IPL Orange Cap list for this year.

Looking at the present scenario, Suryavanshi is likely to become one of the best players in IPL in the future. If he continues in a similar fashion, he will break several records in the future.
