Why Did CSK Drop Akeal Hosein vs MI?

Akeal Hosein’s exclusion appears to be a purely tactical call rather than a form-based decision. The left-arm spinner has picked up 6 wickets in 4 matches this season, including a standout 4/17 performance, making him one of CSK’s more reliable bowlers. However, the team decided to include the left-arm spinning all-rounder Prashant Veer in the playing 11.

Interestingly, CSK went in with just three overseas players in the XI, keeping flexibility with their Impact Player strategy. Hosein remains available as an impact substitute, meaning that he can still be introduced depending on match conditions, especially if spin becomes crucial later. However, the home team are likely to use an additional batter in the second innings using the Impact player rule.
