The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has made a notable change to the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 schedule. The change has made an impact on two high-profile clashes involving Gujarat Titans and Chennai Super Kings.

The two fixtures are now set for different venues and timings as the BCCI has swapped the match schedule. However, the decision has left the fans scratching their heads, thinking about the IPL schedule change CSK vs GT match.

Why Was CSK vs GT Match Rescheduled?

The reshuffle was made due to the municipal corporation elections scheduled across Ahmedabad on April 26. With security and administrative focus tied to the elections, hosting a high-voltage IPL match in the city on the same day was not feasible. Hence, this afternoon fixture has been moved to the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.

To maintain fairness, the reverse fixture on May 21 has also been swapped, shifting from Chennai to Ahmedabad's Narendra Modi Stadium. The CSK vs GT venue change ensures both teams still get one home game each.

Both Chennai Super Kings and Gujarat Titans are amongst the best teams in IPL. While CSK are the five-time champions, Gujarat became victorious in their first edition, played in 2022. Adding to it, CSK is also second on the list of most wins in IPL, just behind Mumbai Indians.

Chennai Super Kings have had a very shaky start to the ongoing IPL season, managing just one win in their first four games. They currently sit at the ninth spot in the IPL points table.

CSK's campaign finally got going with a 23-run win over Delhi Capitals recently, powered by a magnificent century from their newest edition, Sanju Samson, and a four-wicket haul from the star all-rounder Jamie Overton. However, it would be interesting to see if they can continue this winning run, as inconsistency remains a serious concern.

On the other hand, the Gujarat Titans have had a mixed start to their IPL 2026 campaign, winning two of their first four matches and sitting in fifth position on the points table. They have been highly reliant on their skipper Shubman Gill and the experienced Jos Buttler at the top of the order. The bowling department has been led by their star pacer, Prasidh Krishna, who is the IPL purple cap holder of this edition currently.

The change in CSK vs GT 2026 schedule is unlikely to have any impact on both teams. They have some of the top-class players and both matches are expected to be thrillers.
