The Delhi Capitals are currently competing against Rajasthan Royals at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium, Jaipur. Apart from their scoreboard being the discussion among the IPL fans, the rumors of the Delhi Capitals players wearing black armbands during the match has turned the heads of the fans.

Earlier in the day, Royals won the toss and decided to bat, and in just three overs, they lost two wickets. The opening batsmen Yashasvi Jaiswal and Vaibhav Suryavanshi, two players in the Orange Cap list this year, suffered an early exit.

Why DC Players Are Wearing Black Armbands?

During the RR vs DC IPL 2026 match, DC players were seen wearing the black armbands. The reason behind Delhi Capitals black armbands is the death of their two young fan recently.

The DC franchise also shared an Instagram post to mourn the loss of two cousins, 20-year-old Yagya Bhatia and 14-year-old Abhav Bhatia, who lost their lives after the DC vs RCB IPL 2026 match on April 27 as they were heading home. They suffered an unfortunate accident on their way and could not survive. Both of them were a part of DC Toli, the fan group of the franchise.

Instances Of Black Armbands In IPL 2026

The IPL 2026 season officially started on March 28, 2026, and so far a total of 42 matches have been completed. During these days, there have been several instances of black armbands in IPL, which is a great way for the players to show their solidarity.

One of the best teams in IPL, Mumbai Indians, wore the black armbands two times this season. RCB were also seen wearing them during their opening match on March 28 in memory of the 11 victims who lost their lives in a stampede during the team's victory parade in 2025. Along with them, their opponents, SRH, also wore the band for the same reason.

Meanwhile, Chennai Super Kings players won the black armband on two separate dates. They were first seen with the gesture on April 14 to pay tribute to CD Gopinath, who was India's oldest Test cricketer at the time and passed away at 96. Their opponents KKR also joined them in the tribute. CSK also wore the same on April 23, giving an emotional tribute to teammate Mukesh Choudhary's mother, Prema Devi, following her passing.
