As we know, black armbands in cricket are traditionally worn as a mark of respect, mourning, or tribute following a tragedy, death, or unfortunate incident connected to players, staff members, former cricketers, or the public. The PBKS, one of the best teams in IPL, have again come forward in showing respect towards the personal loss of someone from the team, like they also wore during the death of Azmatuallh Omarzai's mother a few weeks back.

This is not the first time players have worn black armbands during IPL 2026. Earlier in the season, Punjab Kings players wore black armbands during their clash against Sunrisers Hyderabad twice to pay tribute to the victims of the Vrindavan boat tragedy, as well as the death of a former U19 cricketer.
