Shreyas Iyer’s Funny Gesture With Shashank Singh After LSG Clash Goes Viral

Punjab Kings captain Shreyas Iyer is not just having an excellent season with the bat but is also leading his team brilliantly in IPL 2026. Iyer's camaraderie with his teammates can be visible with the way he is communicating with them during the field.

After the PBKS vs LSG IPL 2026 match, Iyer shared another light moment with his teammate Shashank Singh. The PBKS captain was seen hiding Shashank's face with a cap as both of them walked off the field after the comprehensive victory.

Why Shreyas Iyer Hide Shashank Singh Face?

The match might have gone in Punjab's favor but Shashank Singh, one of the best finishers in IPL, didn't have a great day while fielding. The middle order batter dropped three simple catches and two of them came during the last 20 minutes of play.

The first opportunity came during the 14th over of the innings when Yuzvendra Chahal, the man with the most wickets in IPL was bowling. The ball was in the air for a long time with Shashank well underneath it. However, he misjudged it woefully and despite a last minute step to his right, he was unable to catch it.

The second one was probably the funniest one as Shashank Singh misjudged it completely. He thought that the ball would sail over the boundary ropes easily only to find out that the ball just touched the cushions. Had he attempted to take the catch, it would have been one of the easiest of the day. It left everyone shocked inside the stadium, including the bowler Arshdeep Singh and PBKS head coach Ricky Ponting, whose looks quickly went viral.

If these drops were not enough, Shashank Singh went on to drop the easiest catch during the penultimate over of the match. The ball came in to the right of deep backward square leg, however, Shashank dropped a sitter again. At this point, even Punjab captain Shreyas Iyer was smiling along with some of his teammates as they saw a light side of it.

Shashank Singh dropped catch was not expected from someone of his caliber, who is known to have safe hands. After the match, Iyer joked with him and hid his face in a funny way. Ricky Ponting, who was looking quite angry during these moments, was also seen sharing a laugh with Shashank.

Neither Iyer nor Shashank had the opportunity to score big in the match as bulk of the work was already done by Priyansh Arya and Cooper Connolly. While Iyer suffered his first batting failure of the season, Shashank provided the finishing impetus with a quickfire 17 off just 6 balls.

However, Punjab Kings thrashed LSG by a massive margin of 54 runs. With this victory, Punjab have moved ahead in the PBKS vs LSG H2H record. It was a comprehensive win for the Kings as they remained at the top of the IPL points table with no defeats so far. They are looking in fine form at the moment and look like the team to beat this season.
