Will Vaibhav Suryavanshi Face Shreyas Iyer's Punjab Kings After Injury Scare?

Rajasthan Royals' young batting sensation Vaibhav Suryavanshi suffered a massive injury scare during his team's IPL 2026 match against Sunrisers Hyderabad at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium, Jaipur. The injury sent shockwaves throughout the RR camp, as he has been in prime form.

After the third over of SRH's innings, Vaibhav Suryavanshi went down which prompted the physio to rush in. The 15-year-old received some treatment and was later taken out of the ground.

Is Vaibhav Suryavanshi Ruled Out of Next Match?

Vaibhav Suryavanshi injury has come at a wrong time for Rajasthan Royals as he is a prime contender for the IPL Orange cap this season. It looked like he was suffering from cramps, which might have been the result of a marathon knock during the first innings of the match.

RR's next match is against Shreyas Iyer's Punjab Kings on April 28, and is expected to be the most challenging game for them. The Kings are at the top of the IPL points table and the only unbeaten team of the season so far.

Currently, there is no confirmation about Suryavanshi's absence from the next match as the RR team management is yet to make anything official. The youngster's fitness is likely to be examined before making any decision. However, they will hope that he gets fit on time and plays against Punjab Kings, which can be the biggest test for him so far.

Vaibhav Suryavanshi in Superb Form

Suryavanshi has continued from where he left off from the last season of Indian Premier League. The left-hander has scored 357 runs in six matches at a blistering strike rate of 235. His stats are a proof why he is amongst the most dangerous batsmen in IPL at such a young age.

The 15-year-old opener smashed his second IPL hundred against Sunrisers Hyderabad at Jaipur. He scored 103 from 37 balls, which included 5 fours and 12 sixes during the RR vs SRH IPL 2026 match. Vaibhav Suryavanshi hundred took his team to a competitive 228-6 in 20 overs. While the youngster has scored runs at a terrific strike rate, his biggest achievement this season has been his consistency.

His fearless attitude against some of the best bowlers in the world has been a hallmark of his batting performance. If he is ruled out against Punjab Kings, it will be a massive blow for RR as they will have to change their batting combination. His opening partnership with Yashasvi Jaiswal at the top has been one of the reasons of RR's success so far.
