Barcelona Transfer News: Club acquires advance signing of Real Betis’ midfielder Guido Rodriguez
La Liga club Barcelona has reportedly penned their league rivals Real Betis’ midfielder Guido Rodriguez on a pre-contract before the end of the season. Barca were linked with the player in recent times and their interest in the 30-year-old was quite imminent. Guido Rodriguez has also represented Argentina on the international stage with 29 caps for his country so far.
The Argentine midfielder joined Real Betis in Jan 2020. His current contract with the club darts till June 2024, i.e., till the end of this season. Rodriguez does come across as someone having played a decent amount of years at the highest level to has a ton of experience on his shoulders. He could well aid Barca’s options in the middle of the park leading up to the next top-flight season under Xavi. However, he could have to fight for his spot in the playing eleven with players like Gavi, Pedri, and Ilkay Gundogan already at the club’s disposal.
Guido Rodriguez has made 22 appearances for Real Betis in the 2023-2024 La Liga season so far. The defensive midfielder has two goals to his tally as well in these outings. The 30-year-old has started for Betis about 60 percent of the matches in which he has played. He has 5 appearances in this season’s UEFA Europa League for the Spanish club in which he has an assist to his name.
