Bayern Munich Prepared to Trade Joshua Kimmich for Ronald Araujo

Barcelona defender Ronald Araujo has established himself as one of the most coveted defenders in the modern era and his meteoric rise in the last few years earned him a captain’s armband at Camp Nou.

The Uruguayan’s current contract with the Catalan giants expires in the summer of 2026 and president Joan Laporta is reportedly willing to tie the defender to a lifetime contract. His exploits haven’t gone unnoticed, capturing the interest of several elite European clubs.

Bayern Munich are keen on signing a central defender in the summer window and has identified Araujo as one of their key targets. They are ready to offer Joshua Kimmich as a swap deal who has been a loyal servant for the Bavarians for nearly nine years.

Kimmich faces an uncertain future with the Bundesliga giants after entering the final 18 months of his contract and he’s reportedly keen to leave Allianz Area this summer. Bayern are reportedly looking to offer Kimmich to Barcelona to seal the deal for Ronald Araujo this summer.

The 29-year-old midfielder has been a vital player for the German club over the years, chipping in 41 goals and 102 assists in 378 appearances across all competitions.

But Araujo has now poured cold water on the speculation surrounding his future and insists he remains happy at Camp Nou.

“There has been a lot of talk about this, but I’m happy at Barcelona,” he told La Quinta Tribuna.

“Besides, we have to finish the season well because there are still challenges ahead, including the Copa America with Uruguay.”
