Cole Palmer was involved in the international friendlies with England but didn’t play in the second game with Belgium. He looks to have shaken off his minor knock and is expected to be fit for the weekend tie. Ben Chilwell, Malo Gusto, and Carney Chukwuemeka will need to be assessed but could return to action in Chelsea’s next clash against Manchester United on April 4.

Chelsea injured players

Romeo Lavia – The midfielder has been ruled out for the remainder of the season after he suffered the latest injury setback in his recovery from a thigh injury he sustained against Crystal Palace back in December. The £58m signing will miss the remainder of the season.

Trevoh Chalobah – The defender is participating in partial team training but he was never a regular in Pochettino’s XI this season. He made his first start of the season in the thrilling FA Cup encounter with Leeds United.

Christopher Nkunku – The French forward is continuing his rehabilitation programme who missed a major chunk of the 2023/24 campaign due to a knee injury he sustained in the pre-season. Nkunku is currently sidelined with a hamstring injury and may not play again this season.

Lesley Ugochukwu  – The midfielder has missed more than 20 matches this season and is currently sidelined with a hamstring injury. In January, it was expected that Lesley would be out for six weeks but there have been no signs of his return.

Reece James – The defender started his rehabilitation programme after sustaining a hamstring injury at the end of last year. There has been no official timeframe on the Chelsea captain and whether he will be fit enough to play again this season.

Robert Sanchez – The Chelsea No.1 has been out with a knee injury since December and will be unavailable this weekend against Burnley.

Wesley Fofana – The Frenchman suffered a knee injury in Chelsea’s pre-season and needed surgery on his ACL. He’s considered to be a long way from returning to the first team even though he was pictured in light training at Cobham.
