Conor Gallagher Transfer: The midfielder has been a revelation for Chelsea this season

Former Arsenal star Paul Merson has urged his ex-club to sign Conor Gallagher. The Chelsea midfielder has been one of their best players this season, and Merson feels he brings everything to the table.

A product of Chelsea’s youth academy, Gallagher has truly come of age under Mauricio Pochettino this season. He’s struck five times and assisted seven from 35 games in the Premier League, which is impressive considering his position.

Merson, an Arsenal legend with 417 appearances for the club over a period of 11 years, feels the Gunners must acquire the player, as Gallagher is “a fan’s dream”. He said:

“I would even go as far as to say at Arsenal you would, go and get him at Arsenal where you have got Rice, Odegaard and Gallagher. He gives you everything. He gives you energy, he gives you goals and he closes down. He is a fan’s dream. Everybody wants a trier.”

After various loan spells, Gallagher returned to Chelsea last season for his first-team breakthrough, but could only produce his best in flashes. This season, with more gametime under his belt, the midfielder has produced a marked improvement. He’s a fixture in Pochettino’s XI and has stepped up to the plate several times for his side.

Chelsea looking to end their Premier League season

After witnessing a topsy-turvy run throughout their campaign, Chelsea appear to have found their best lately. The side has won their last three matches in a row, and look to win their final two of the season as well, which could mark a brilliant end to their season. Their upturn in form has also seen them close the gap on European places, and might sneak inside the top seven on current form.
