The two European giants will battle out each other in the UEFA Champions League semi-final first-leg tie on Wednesday, May 01. This season, both clubs are trending in opposite directions and PSG has a great chance to win this tie against a vulnerable Dortmund who have struggled domestically but have progressed well in the European stages.

The highly-anticipated fixture has previously been contested only six times with PSG winning two, drawing three, and losing only one against the Black and Yellow. PSG are on course for a treble this season and it has been a good stretch for the French champions who are unbeaten in the league since September 2023. Also, Paris Saint Germain is entering this game after clinching their 12th Ligue 1 title.

Borussia Dortmund, on the other hand, has endured an inconsistent season and has already played PSG twice earlier in the season’s group stages. Several first-team players are currently sidelined with their respective problems. The likes of Ramy Bensebaini and Sebastien Haller will sit out due to their knee injuries. Emre Can and Ian Maatsen will return for this European clash after being suspended for the game against RB Leipzig.

As for PSG, they remain without the services of Sergio Rico who’s recovering from his head injury and will return at the start of the 2024/25 campaign. The visitors will also be without Layvin Kurzawa who has been ruled out for four weeks with a back injury whereas Presnel Kimpembe is out for the remainder of the season.

The French giants are certainly the heavy favorites coming into this fixture. They will enter this game off the back of a 3-3 stalemate with Le Havre over the weekend.
