Joshua Zirkzee transfer

Zlatan Ibrahimovic confirms Joshua Zirkzee is no longer part of AC Milan’s plans as Man United leads the race for center-forward

According to a recent post from football transfer market expert ‘Fabrizio Romano’ on ‘X’ (formerly Twitter), Seria A club AC Milan’s former player and current senior advisor to the management, Zlatan Ibrahimovic has reportedly confirmed that Bologna FC’s Dutch center-forward Joshua Zirkzee is no longer part of their transfer plans in the ongoing summer transfer window.

“Zirkzee? It’s the past for us”, Ibrahimovic has stated as per Romano’s tweet. The 42-year-old has also asserted – “We already have the new striker in mind but I’m not gonna tell you the name”. AC Milan is reportedly on the hunt for a new striker since Oliver Giroud has departed the club in a move to MLS club Los Angeles FC (LAFC). In recent times, Atletico Madrid’s Spanish international – Alvaro Morata has also been linked with the Rossoneris.

Joshua Zirkjee has also been heavily linked with a potential move to Man United. Despite Rasmus Hojlund gaining momentum in front of the goal towards the latter half of the 2023-24 Premier League season, the Red Devils’ search for a lethal number nine continues. Also as per ‘Sky Sports’, United has worked out some sort of agreement in terms of Zirkzee’s transfer, and as per ‘The New York Times’, they are currently working on the final details of the deal.

So as things stand, AC Milan is expected to look for other options to replace Oliver Giroud in front of the goal. But it won’t be an easy task as the French international’s place in the Seria A club might be a tough shoe to fill in. In his 34 outings for Bologna FC in the last season of the Italian top-flight league, Joshua Zirkzee scored 11 goals and had five assists to his name.
