Karim Benzema Penalty Miss: The French Forward Returned for Al-Ittihad in a Comprehensive Win Over Al Fayha

Karim Benzema made his comeback for Al-Ittihad against Al Fayha after being out from the on-field action for over a month. His return to the first team squad for the Saudi Pro League match carried a mixed result for him. In the Al Fayha fixture, one of his disappointing moments was cancelled out by a stunning assist from him.

A Karim Benzema penalty miss doesn’t affect Al-Ittihad against Al Fayha

Karim Benzema missed a penalty in Al-Ittihad’s Saudi Pro League clash against Al Fayha. This was his second consecutive penalty miss in his last couple of outings. However, Benzema’s penalty miss was somehow overshadowed by his assist in the game as Al-Ittihad managed to register a crucial 3-1 win over Al Fayha.

With this win, Al-Ittihad currently stands at the fourth spot in this season’s Saudi Pro League table with 46 points to their name. They are two points behind the third place Al-Ahli Saudi who has registered 48 points so far. However, at this stage, a direct qualification for the next season’s AFC Champions League group stages looks quite a stern task for the club.

Karim Benzema has performed decently for Saudi Pro League outfit Al-Ittihad when it comes to his overall goal contribution to the team. He was out from the on-field action for about over a month which hampered his progress in terms of this season’s top scorers in the league. Also, there were certain rumours regarding the Frenchman wanting to leave the Saudi club in January 2024.

In his 17 appearances for Al-Ittihad in the ongoing season in the Saudi League, Benzema has managed to register a respectable tally of nine goals and six assists to his name. However, considering how lethal the former Real Madrid forward is considered in front of the goal, these numbers certainly won’t flatten him.
