According to Sports Zone, Bayern Munich have inquired about the availability of Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk. The Durch defender’s future has been up in the air since Jurgen Klopp announced that he will leave the club at the end of the season. Arne Slot is set to take over at Liverpool next season.

Van Dijk has been one of the Premier League’s and world football’s best defenders since his move to Liverpool. He joined the club from Southampton back in 2018 and has so far made 267 appearances, including 45 this season. He has had a successful spell at Liverpool under Jurgen Klopp, winning the Premier League, the UEFA Champions League, and more.

Bayern Munich’s reported interest in Van Dijk could make the situation interesting. According to the same report, several Saudi Pro League clubs are also interested in signing the player in the summer. Van Dijk reportedly has a ‘fantastic’ offer on the table from the Saudi Pro League.

While Van Dijk is 32, he has proved his abilities this season and has turned in several world-class performances. Hence, he could be a valuable addition to Bayern’s defense which already boasts Matthijs De Ligt, Kim Min Jae, Eric Dier, and Dayot Upamecano. However, whether Liverpool would let their club captain go is unclear. Van Dijk has a contract with the Reds until the end of the 2024-25 season. As per Transfermarkt, he has an estimated market value of 32 million Euros.

Virgil van Dijk is all praise for the next Liverpool coach Arne Slot

Arne Slot is all set to become Liverpool’s next coach. The Merseysiders have struck a deal with Feyenoord Rotterdam and an official announcement is only pending at this point. Van Dijk has already spoken highly about Slot, claiming that the Feyenoord coach is one of the better Dutch coaches at the moment. He said (via WION):

“I think Arne Slot might be one of the better Dutch coaches at this moment. I think the way he plays and the philosophy he has that he could be a Liverpool coach. Only in my opinion, what I also read and hear, of course, is that it is far from finalised. We will see. Next year we will focus on that.”

While Van Dijk has been linked with a move away from the club, his Dutch connection with Slot could make the Liverpool captain stay at the club at least for the next season.
