Erling Haaland starred with a hat-trick as Manchester City dominated Chelsea 4-2 in a pre-season friendly. Youngsters Oscar Bobb, Rico Lewis, James McAtee, and Nico O’Reilly impressed, with Guardiola confirming McAtee and O’Reilly’s first-team roles. Guardiola also praised former assistant Enzo Maresca, now Chelsea's manager, calling him a "lovely person" destined for success. The match highlighted City’s depth and promising youth talent ahead of the new season.

Manchester City brushed aside Chelsea with relative ease in their latest pre season friendly, winning 4-2. Pep Guardiola’s side raced into a 4-0 lead courtesy and eventually won 4-2.

For Erling Haaland it was service as usual as he scored a hattrick to warm up for the season in style. There was also a goal for Oscar Bobb, who has looked mighty impressive this pre season. It is likely that the Norwegian winger will play an important part in this season for City.

The likes of academy graduates Rico Lewis, James McAtee and Nico O’Reilly were also mighty impressive against Chelsea. Lewis has of course been a crucial part of City’s squad in the last couple of seasons. As for McAtee and O’Reilly, Guardiola said that both were going to be a part of the first team squad this season.

Guardiola also had a lot to say about new Chelsea boss Enzo Marcesca, who was once upon a time a part of Manchester City’s set up. I’m really pleased for him,” Guardiola said.“We spent a special year together. He is an incredible, lovely person. And his family too. He did a really good job – unbelievable – at Leicester. Promotion to the Premier League and now he is in one of the top five, six teams in England. And I wish him the best because he deserves it. Nice people deserve the best.”
“As a manager, he has success because he has the most important thing. To be a manager is believing something deeply but, really, deeply, deeply,” Guardiola continued. “And whatever the results, I stick with my idea and that’s why he believes in what he does. He will have success. I don’t know how long, but he will have it.”
