Mathias Olivera's Injury brings concerns for Napoli

Napoli’s Win Over Monza Curtailed by Mathias Olivera’s Injury

Latest on Mathias Olivera’s Injury

Napoli’s impressive Seria A win over rivals Monza was soured by a major injury concern to one of their defenders. The Naples managed to topple Monza by an emphatic scoreline of 2-4 on the day. However, Mathias Olivera’s injury could hamper their progress going ahead in the remainder of the 2023-2024 top-flight season.

As per the earlier reports, the left-back suffered a muscle injury during the game against Monza. During the last part of 2023, he also went through a major injury, so, one wonders if his most recent injury has anything to do with the previous one. However, the recent muscle injury is termed to keep him out from the on-field action for about a month. Considering this he might return to the team for their last few matches of the season in May.

Although Mathias Olivera hasn’t been a regular starter for Napoli in the ongoing Seria A season, he’s been a regular name in the matchday squad. He has featured in about 60 percent of the club’s matches in the league this campaign, most of them being a substitute appearance. But, he’s been a major part of Francesco Calzona’s in-game tactics.

Olivera has made a total of 18 appearances for Naples in the 2023-2024 Seria A campaign. Apart from his defensive contributions, he has also registered a valuable assist for his side. He has also played six UEFA Champions League matches for the club this season, with him featuring in the starting eleven for about 40 percent of these matches.
