Morocco crushed the Central African Republic 5-0 in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers on Saturday to boost their progression hopes. Abde Ezzalzouli, Achraf Hakimi, and a double from Azzedine Ounahi had them 4-0 up before the break, as the game was already in the bag, halfway through. But there was more to come after the break, as Soufiane Rahimi netted a penalty in the 71st minute to add a fifth goal and put the final nail in Wild Beasts’ coffin. Here are the player ratings:

Tracked back whenever he sensed danger and gave Central African Republic’s defense much to worry; assisted Ounahi for their second

Nayef Aguerd – 6.5

Distribution skills were top notch and didn’t face much threat from their rivals in defense

Jamal Harkass – 7

Impeccable at winning back possession and strong in the air too.

Achraf Hakimi – 8

A solid display in attack marked by a special goal too.

Midfielders

Azzedine Ounahi – 10/10

What a terrific performance from Ounahi, who struck twice on either side of an assist for Hakimi.

Sofyan Amrabat – 7

Dictated Morocco’s tempo as their deep-lying midfielder with his excellent distribution skills.

Forwards

Abdessamad Ezzalzouli – 9.5

Fired the Atlas Lions in front and then set up Ounahi for their fourth; played a crucial role in winning back possession while twisting and turning the opposition defense with precocious dribbling skills.

Soufiane Rahimi – 7.5

Struck a penalty late on to put the final nail in Central African Republic’s coffin.

Eliesse Ben Seghir – 6

Struggled to win his duels and couldn’t place his crosses properly either.

Ayoub El Kaabi – 5

Cut a lonely figure upfront even on a goal-crazy evening for his side.

Replaced the injured Bono and had an easy game as their rivals barely mustered any attack.

A night to forget for the Central African Republic’s goalkeeper, who was absolutely helpless against Morocco’s deadly offense.

Defenders

Flory Yangao – 6.5

Made some vital interventions to help regain possession but ultimately no match for the menacing Moroccan forwards.

Cedric Yambere – 6.5

Brave, industrious and never hesitant, it saw him block two shots and win three ground duels.

Dylan Mboumbouni – 6.5

Excellent vision saw him make five clearances.

Left acres of space in behind for Morocco’s wide players to exploit.

Looked to get his side forward with several long balls but misplaced his passes and lacked aggression to compete for possession.

Won seven of his nine ground duels and ruffled a few feathers with his dribbling ability too.

Supported the forwards by drifting forward and making crosses; he even laid two key passes.

Karl Namnganda – 6

Sloppy on the ball but won possession in key areas a few times before driving forward to feed the central players.

Louis Mafouta – 6.5

Struggled to win his duels and offered no great shakes in attack.

Goduine Koyalipou – 5

Couldn’t test the Moroccan defense enough despite his best efforts.

Made five clearances, four tackles and won four ground duels too – great effort.

Caused some problems for Morocco with his interceptions.

An underwhelming display by all accounts.
