Newcastle United could be forced to sell star player because of FFP rules; Arsenal interested – Reports

Newcastle United could reportedly be forced to sell Alexander Isak to comply with FFP rules. The Swedish striker has interest from Arsenal and it could be a possible destination for him in the summer.

As per a report in the Football Insider, Newcastle United are at the risk of breaching FFP and Premier League’s rules. The striker has done well since moving to St James Park and has notched 16 goals in 30 games for the Magpies this season.

Newcastle United are aware of the possibility of selling their star players in the summer. Eddie Howe spoke about the rules and admitted that he was not happy with them as it was stopping them from becoming a big club again.

He said:

“In an ideal world, given the freedom to act we would have brought players in already. But we’re not in that situation – as Darren [Eales, Newcastle CEO] alluded to on Thursday, Financial Fair Play is a problem for us, and we’re having to navigate round that. That’s the position we’re in. When does it become a problem? It’s already one, but we’re trying to manage through it.”

Newcastle United signed the striker from Real Sociedad for a reported £63 million. They are ready to sell for Swede star for at least £15 million profit, as per the report.

Arsenal urged to sign Newcastle United star Alexander Isak

Arsenal journalist Charles Watts has urged the club to pick Alexander Isak as the striker to target this summer. He believes that the Swede will fit in perfectly at Emirates and Mikel Arteta’s side will bolster.

He said on the Inside Arsenal YouTube channel:

“My choice for a striker is Alexander Isak from Newcastle. I just think he’s perfect. When I look at this Arsenal team, I look at how Isak plays, I look at how Arsenal play, I just think it fits.”

He was not the first to suggest Isak to Arsenal. Rio Ferdinand has also suggested that the Swede star will be perfect for the Gunners and said:

“Alexander Isak was running in behind constantly [against Manchester City], if I’m Arsenal, I’m going all out and buying him. I think there’s another jump up before [he goes to a club like Real Madrid]. I saw somewhere they have to sell before they can buy again.”

He added:

“Well, he is one of the players. We were talking about him. I think he is a fabulous footballer and I think he has got levels to jump still, and I think if he was somebody’s gettable, which I think could be difficult, but if he was gettable, he would be one at the top of my list at that level.”

Chelsea are also looking to sign a striker in the summer and could jump into the race.
