PSG vs Barcelona ended in a thrilling 3-2 win for the visitors at the Parc des Princes in the first leg of the UEFA Champions League quarter-finals on April 10.

Both teams made a great start to the first half as they shared the ball for nearly equal amounts of time. The hosts had 53% of the ball while the visitors had 47% of the ball. However, the team with lesser of the ball struck first. Raphinha put Barcelona ahead in the 37th minute following a tidy move. Both sides had three shots on target in a tense first half but the visitors led at the break.

The Parisians burst into life in the second half as they found a leveller just three minutes after the restart. Ousmane Dembele scored a lovely goal to make it 1-1 after 48 minutes. Just two minutes later, Fabian Ruiz assisted Vitinha to score to make it 2-1. Barcelona then came up with some brilliance to level the game shortly after the hour-mark as Pedri and Raphinha combined with some lovely play.

The latter tucked the ball into the net from close range with a first-time volley, sending the traveling fans into raptures. Ilkay Gundogan then assisted Andreas Christensen for what turned out to be the winning goal for Barcelona in the 77th minute as they will take a 3-2 lead back to Spain.

The Italian international had a subpar game by his standards and was partly at fault for all three of Barcelona’s goals in a poor display.

The Brazilian was deployed on the right side of his team’s backline and played well.

Lucas Hernandez – 6/10

Lucas Beraldo – 6/10

Beraldo, much like Donnarumma, was at fault for almost all of Barcelona’s goals. His positioning was suspect and he looked out of place in general.

Nuno Mendes – 7.5/10

Mendes put in a great performance and showed great energy. He passed the ball with 87% accuracy, including one key pass. He also won eight duels and made three clearances and two tackles.

Kang-in Lee – 7/10

Lee put in a good performance for his team in midfield.

Vitinha – 8.5/10

Vitinha was by far the player of the match from PSG’s perspective as he scored to make it 2-1 and also played a brilliant game. He passed the ball with 99% accuracy, including three key passes and five long balls. He also won two duels.

Fabian Ruiz – 7/10

Ruiz put in a good performance in midfield and assisted his midfield partner Vitinha’s goal.

Ousmane Dembele – 7/10

Dembele got on the scoresheet with a good goal to make it 1-1 to PSG early in the second half. He also played three key passes and won three duels.

Kylian Mbappe – 6.5/10

Mbappe looked off-colour and could not make an impact during PSG vs Barcelona as none of his three attempts were on target.
