Real Betis vs Sevilla Preview

Real Betis vs Sevilla will take place at the Estadio Benito Villamarin for La Liga’s second El Gran Derbi of the season on April 28.

The hosts will enter this game on the back of a mixed run of form. They have won three, lost four, and drawn one of their last eight games. However, the four defeats came as consecutive results, putting them in a temporary spot of bother. Betis bounced back fairly well with two wins in their last two games, overcoming Celta Vigo 2-1 before defeating Valencia with the same score in their last one. Placed just three points behind the European spots, they were looking for a win.

The visitors, on the other hand, found themselves in a much better run of form compared to their rivals. With four wins, two draws and two defeats in their last eight matches, they managed to pull themselves a considerable distance away from the relegation zone as they sit in 12th place. Sevilla defeated Las Palmas 2-0, before seeing off Mallorca 2-1 at home in their last game. A couple more wins would take them into the top half as they looked to end the season well.

With that said, let’s take a look at the team news coming out of both camps.

Manager Manuel Pellegrini will be without some key players for the upcoming derby. Long-term absentees Marc Bartra and Chimy Avila will remain sidelined for the next game and could make their return in a couple of weeks. Hector Bellerin remains a doubt for the next game and could start on the bench. Isco picked up a knock in their win last time and could start from the bench.

Meanwhile, Ayoze Perez, Aitor Ruibal and Assane Diao have all picked up four yellow cards this season and will be suspended for one game if they pick up another.

Sevilla

Manager Quique Sanchez Flores will have a much shorter injury list to worry about ahead of the next game. Defender Loic Bade (muscle) is doubtful, while Djibril Sow (broken toe) is certain to miss this game and probably a couple more. Nemanja Gudelj also picked up a knock in their last match and will be assessed late before the next one.

Suso and Bade have picked up four yellow cards apiece and will get suspended for one game if they pick up another.

Real Betis vs Sevilla Prediction

Considering three of the last five meetings have ended in draws, this one could go down the same path as well. Both teams have little to lose at this stage of this season, but Betis will play for the win as they have the chance to get into the European spots.

Prediction: Betis 2-2 Sevilla.

Real Betis vs Sevilla Betting Tips & Odds
