Rodri tops ESPN best midfielders list with Martin Odegaard and Toni Kroos behind him

Ever since he signed for Manchester City from Atletico Madrid in 2019, few players have thrived as much as Rodri has for the Manchester giants. The now 27-year-old has evolved and grown in his spell at the club and is now considered to be one of the best in the game. So much so, that City gave him a contract extension just three years after he signed, extending till the summer of 2027.

That combined with the Spaniard’s availability has meant that City has rarely been without their defensive star with Rodri playing over 250 games for the club. That includes 50 games this season with the midfielder missing just four league games. Not only that, Rodri also hit a career high for goals and assists, contributing to 23 across all competitions.
