Preview

  • Date: Sunday, September 29
  • Kick-off Time: 1:00 pm GMT
  • Venue: Stadio Olimpico, Roma, Italy

Matchday six of Serie A 2024/25 will include Roma taking on Venezia. The Roma vs Venezia will be played out at the iconic Stadio Olimpico on Sunday. The hosts are on their way to redemption, sitting at the ninth spot with six points from five games. Venezia, on the other hand, is struggling in the relegation zone with only four points so far. Rosario Abisso will be the designated referee for the game.

Roma’s recent form has been a frustrating one. In the last six games, the club has managed a solitary victory along with four draws and a defeat. The win came last weekend against Udinese. The capital club has finally been able to kickstart its league campaign under new coach, Ivan Juric. Roma has scored six goals in the last five games, underlining the difficulties in front of goal for I Giallorossi.

Venezia has had a troubled time dealing with the hardships of the Italian top flight in the opening months of the new season. A 2-0 victory over Genoa has been the only three points Venezia has acquired so far. The numbers don’t favour the visitors when they travel to the capital on Sunday. Venezia has not found the back of the net in two away matches and has conceded the most penalties this season in Serie A (3).

Key Players to Watch in Roma vs Venezia

Paulo Dybala (Roma)

Paulo Dybala struggled to get going this campaign under Daniel De Rossi. The Italian coach overlooked the Argentine resulting in limited minutes. Ivan Juric, though, has entrusted Dybala upfront and the player has already responded with a goal in two outings, There are little doubts about Paulo Dybala’s skills and qualities. He will need to prove his match fitness and sharpness, in light of the injury he picked up on Thursday. The former Juventus man has never registered a goal contribution against Venezia and will be aiming to change that on Sunday.

Mats Hummels (Roma)

It has not been an ideal start to life at Roma for Mats Hummels. The German legend arrived at the capital as a free agent earlier this month. He is yet to feature for his new club, having only found a place on the bench for three games in a row. The 35-year-old will inevitably be a crucial piece in the backline for Ivan Juric, thanks to his experience and exemplary defensive skills. Hummels is expected to start the match against Venezia to obtain some much-needed minutes on the pitch.

Roma vs Venezia Prediction

Roma has finally started making real strides under the guidance of Ivan Juric. Venezia’s backline does not have the requisite quality to negate the attacking threat from Roma. Playing at their home ground, Roma players will have enough motivation and support to ensure a comfortable win.
